Gotta get soil to 140-150 farenheit...when i first learned of it while back i put oven to 160 and a big batch...yeah it's better to do small batches in microwave

it's supposed to kill bugs and insects like Gnats and stuff.....i've heard people doing that in my early years....i've personally have never done it....never needed too..

I do it for seed starting mix I use for starting my veggies and flowers. I just put my recycled and screened soil on trays and bake. After that I inoculate with JMS and let it sit for a week and then fill my seed trays with it. Plant and grow.

I keep my soil outside so I only bake it to kill any pests so I don't bring them inside.

Yeah i did about a gallon or more first try in a big turkey pan or whatever in the oven...nope not worth it. Now i zap like a quart at a time for 2min in microwave. Comes out at 140ish.then repeat.im done with a 5gal pretty quick.

How are you getting rid of your fungus gnats? I'm in coco so drying out seems to cause salt buildup and burn my tips. Which isn't the worst thing in the world, but I get reinfested almost every time I add new coco to the room so I don't love doing it as a regular thing.

I found Gnatrol drenches for about 2-3 weeks in a row combined with the yellow sticky traps pretty much knocked them out. I might see an occasional flyer but I live out in the woods and the little bastards are lurking just outside the front door waiting for me to take the dog out to storm in so I always see a few.

This stuff is supposed to be good. I've got some, but haven't tried it. I'm in soil, and Hypoaspis Miles do the job. Nematodes are good too.

Nematodes for the larvae and sticky traps for the adults.
