Best and reliable fan setup

I do sometimes use the oscillating ones under canopy in flower tents if I happen to do a very dense scrog.

But for me the 16" wall mounted on ceiling covers the whole 8x4 very well..

The draw back for some might be you lose a ft off your ceiling. But that doesn't make any difference to me because I've got , mostly, 8" filters , so I lose that space anyway.
Not that I've ever really needed that extra height anyway

Traditional stationary fans with all metal construction where you can see all moving parts and wires to be able to easier maintain and clean.

They last years instead of grow cycles with the cheap clip on fans. The worst thing in the world is a squeeking oscillating fan that you have no idea when it's gonna break.

For exhaust I solely use highly classed industrial fans with thermal fuses.

Your totaally right about that do you have any brand to recommend?

and the Ac infinity intake/exhaust fanfor a 5x5 tent is enough they are well built andthey last a long time they fine for me

I always buy them whenever they are on sale. There's so many brands globally with the same construction. I would look at wattage and settings. In my tall gorilla tent I have two 65w way up in the top and two 30w in the bottom.

30-40w is a good range to be able to keep the fans pretty close. Look for fans with 4 settings, 3 speeds and off.

Something like this:

What would be the best and reliable fan setup for a 5x5 grow tent?

Im torn btw going with either :

- 2 or 3 s6 for top cannopy and a 12'' desk fan or a lasko tower fan for mid and bottom
- A 16'' hurricane wall fan with the desk or tower fan
- 3 or 4 clip on fan with the desk or tower fan

What would be the option from your experience help me decide please

I'm really happy with the primaklima whisperblower with two silencers and a simple but quiet rowenta silent combo I have.
8x4 here.

Just switched out the 200mm silencers for 300mm silencers and turned it down to 30% for the heck of it.
It sucks cause now I hear how loud my computer fans actually are and I have to replace those too *lmao*

Works up to 3x3. Idk how youd do it in a commercial grow but good thing thats not my problem lol.

So airflow is suppose to be Laminar and not turbulent, So to have 2-3 oscillation fans in a 5x5 tent seems like overkill.
I really like the setup that @medidedicated have with fans above the lights. Takes no grow space and will create laminar flow.
A fan below the canopy is also recommended to have.

I would go with 2 fans 1 above canopy and 1 below.
By quality and by once, I burnt a few cheep occulting fans before I got the AC infinity, only have it for 2 grows so can't speak of how long it will last.

A really good podcast about airflow. Cannabis cultivation and science - Episode 143.

The two light tent is 2.5x5 its half a 5x5 so basically would use 4 box fans above bar lights (BAB). Seems overkill but I actually like it better in there vs 3x3. In the 3x3 it seems to be pulling air up around edges and blowing down like 2x2 of that 3x3 space.

The 2.5x5 the fans blow from wall to wall which I like the turbulant flow can feel with hands. Can use a piece of papertowel and see it lift when holding it out where youre gauging airflow. Either flops down or up because air is also being rushed to the fan.

I just have finicky requirements, they dont make a lot of 2.5x2.5, 2.5x5 or 3x6 or 6x6 tents. Just my luck. The 3x3 manages rh better with a big plant than the 2.5x5 if youre trying to stay below 45rh. Thats why I say every inch matters for plant growth and rh management. A 2.5x2.5 only a few inches wider than 2x2.

2x2 though.. Those suck for heavy users lol. Height matters too, 6’ tall minimum 6.5’ is best for the box fan and lights. Inline fan/filter will need to be outside of tent, you lose that perk. I was loving using the prefilter with filter inside tent to last forever but whatever.

Height also makes for easier/bigger plants, the way an extra 3 inches around a 2x2 can allow for such larger plant. I still dont get how, I grew 2x2 handful of times and struggled with full size plants, very packed. Even my second attempt which was better. Pruning works, I double my yield 2nd run.

edit to be clear the 3x3 the power of fan drops alot after the 2.5x2.5 mark. I like seeing and feeling the air, the edges of 3x3 have me worried. I wouldnt go any larger.

Ive seen PM grow on passive air area of a plant next to a exaust fan just pc fan no filter. The leaf was moving though I thought if I got it it would show up else where. It still got that very leaf. That was when my grow wasnt PM prepared so it took everything.

Im probably passing by the skin of my ass right now two runs in a row. It can grow in any knuck cranny of leaf. I didnt clean anything, just flipped more plants and tossed the molded. Hung up some box fans was good to go.

So theres PM spores all over the place so its clearly working. I think theres something to plants not ever getting infected being resistant when your lacking with colas smushed against a wall before finally doing something about it. Some leafy buds that popped up after lollipop.

Idk how pm peaks into a grow and ridded of without doing what I did. Every plant was claimed in just hours literally. I didnt think a fan would solve it but it has to be well played each grow. The stuff spreads like fire.
