its crossed my mind to use a ceramic tile to do just that...could never find the exact one with the right texture and bottom surface tho. ill look into the cooking ceramic tho.
It's great for the swinging temps of the griddle. It will maintain a more consistent temp during those swings and it will be even across the tile rather than spikes in the shape of the heating elements.

They sell round ceramic 8 inch tiles.

High guys...

It's been a while...

Much love to all my friends and comrades..

I personally recommend flat griddle for pre-purge, using the rings of Mason jar lids under the dish, as a buffer-> 110F exactly.
If ya find one with a warming drawer, grab that bitch, it provides perfect top & bottom heat.

For heating the chamber.. Please check Texas(THC)'s post on pg 1

It's very very accurate considering the cost.

The deal with the sand, you essentially bury the bottom portion of the chamber, creating even heat via transfer from the walls of the vessel, as opposed to just heating the bottom of the patty.
I've been intending to add a rack about 3" above the floor of the chamber, this will ultimately be as close to replicating a vacuum oven as possible without dropping 2k.

Hope this helps,
Happy dabbing

When operating on a budget, it is hard to beat a $20/30 griddle with a sand bath, such as SDAL uses. Especially if you score one at Goodwill.

A bit more expensive, but we build our own silicone heat mat with PID controller, for under $100.
I've been wanting to go the silicone heat mat path myself but have been running into high prices through places such as brisk heat. I would love to build my own if it can save me some hard earned cash, but honestly not sure where to look.
