Well the idea would be way more even light coverage, and higher light intensity. If you spread that 1000w out over the whole canopy it will more evenly impact your plants. If LEDs are as efficiant as everyone talks about it would give you about 25-20% more light intensity then the HPS.If I should run 1000 watts for it why not just run DE hps? My gavitas easily do a 5x5 or slightly more. And only cost 300 for 1kw.
This is the whole reason I'm thinking about converting to LED eventually. More light with better spread, I don't care about cutting wattage. My 1k HPS only costs me $30 a month to run. However its 1k over the center of my 4x4. I'm positive if I spread that same wattage out over my garden it would increase yields. Quality is already pretty top notch, but I"m always open to making things better if I can.
I havn't done this yet because its still pretty pricy, and my good old light has still been working.
Have you seen the thread about the Amare 8 bar light. Its got me really interested. Its 880w spread into 8 bars that are super adjustable.
