After, consideration on my next winterization I'll perform the purge exactly as stated above.

I get this odd feeling he knows what he's telling about...haha.

Thin film vac purge at 115° F

Any recommendations on length of vac-purge time, in terms of hours: gram (yield)?

it all depend how much everclear you pour in right off the bat.

id say roughly for every gram of oil, you want 1 liquid oz of everclear, which takes a good hour or so to evap (maybe more at 115... thats kinda low compared to what I use) ... somethin like that maybe. but thin film is the important part. I dont think he stressed that enough. good luck if youre using parchment paper.

Good point! Thin film is key!

We gauge progress by watching the bubbles. When the larger, variably sized solvent bubbles stop and only the fizzy equally sized C02 bubbles remain, we stop purging.

a couple of us have gotten it to wax back up after winterizing it, i think guzias did this aswell

I think wax is all a matter of keeping it below 130 or 135 and just keep pulling and pulling on it.

I had winterized shatter in the chamber over the weekend.... I had the center of it waxing up nicely after about 2 days!!! i was proud. even got 2 progress pictures 30 min apart where you can see where the waxed center part had grown.

I bumped up the temp just a hair and went to sleep... woke up to a melted mess in my chamber once again.. FUCKKK!!!!!!!!!!!!! even the waxed part melted and turned perma liquid.

not to mention now it all soaked INTO the paper (I still hate this damn stuff).

guess ill try again and keep the temp below 130$

ps: this is the best 19$ I ever spent: http://www.ebay.com/itm/CDN-DTP392-PROBE-Digital-Thermometer-Use-in-Oven-Grill-Baking-Meat-Candy-/130903003171?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e7a6d5023

i have my presto dialed in i know exactly where to put in so my temp inside the chamber is 130 to 135, and i think your right i just run my vac till i see wax, and people say the only reason it waxes up is because of the plant waxes in the oil... :-P

Jimmy?...is that you?^...lol...

Your pic and sig, and your vocabulary seem very familiar.

And I agree with the nucleation points, nucleation can indeed occur in winterized errls.

to make free of something unwanted. like moisture and butane from the oil. could also be used with "cleanse" and "purify"

we purge the butane out of our oil... remove the butane. moisture too.

when I work in big tankers... they purge the oxygen out of it (remove) and fill it with a less explosive gas.

I think, technically you could say that we purged oilmkr from this forum :p

and then theres a heat purge... obviously using heat.
vacuum purge... using a vacuum
etc...

Lol...

I wish bro...

He posted last night on my Nu-wave thread, about using it as hot plate and chamber for bho.

Of course he posts about Co2 extractions and how it wouldn't work..blah, blah.

I almost replied, but thought...

naaa..not worth my time.

yo vapurge, if i recall correctly, you use the fancy chepparch paper right? its got its logo on the paper right?

right????????

if so, i think thats why you have parch problems.

ive bought 3 different kinds, one being the expensive fancy chep parch, thinking it would be better. i hated it. i only use it for actual cooking now :]

i have had success with this non bleached parch, along with bleached reynolds when i first started off..

diggin this unbleached stuff though.. just sayinnn

interesting. yes I use the fancy brand I believe... the old lady picked it out and usually she doesnt pick the expensive stuff when it comes to that.

very good suggestion, I think youre right. a cheaper one would be thicker and more waxier maybe. this stuff is thin and not very waxy. I do have it figured out though. havnt made a mess in a while, and am able to recover 99% of the wax via hand.

and the remaining 1% I just roll my dabber over... it sticks to the dabber, not the paper, almost every time, so after rolling the tip of the dabber and collecting all the random crumbs, I got 1 more hoot!

but with that being said.... im over the whole wax thing. its annoying.

1. it takes forever, im inpatient. my griddle runs for weeks at a time at approx 1.50$ a day... adds an extra 30$ or so to my electricity bill. im a cheap ass, I know.

2. its hard to deal with, dry crumbly shit that I cant get to stick on the dabber.

and 3. its hard to gauge the size of the hoot because its so inconsistent, and dry flakey shit.

I can now officially say I can make wax... just a personal battle with myself I guess.

my next "project" is some very nice, clean (no weed chunks) toffee shatter stuff.. I want it so that it bends like toffee if you bend it slowly... but if you go quick, she snaps!! I love that stuff... I dont like the shatter where you try to break it, and you got 10,000,000 shards all over the place. that sucks.

any tips?

any tips?

loll, i've unintentionally made that taffy/snap stuff sooo many times..

i would skip making the muffin

step 1) ball up oil in parchment.

melt down in vac at 115F

once melted into puddle, vac to 29.5 hg , lock off, let sit for 30 minutes. at 115F

release vac, re fold down to middle.

repeat step 1

doing this enough times will basically get you every consistency you want. you can decide when to stop.

if you get to a point where its hard as a rock and you cant do anything with it at 29.5hg and 115, increase your heat by 10F and repeat step 1 @ with new heat.

wax is funnnnnnn,

i can pack/smoke a wax hit in my health stone pipe wayyyy too dangerously fast :] super efficient .. the perfect snap taffy takes close monitoring. i usually end up with mine right around when im supposed to be getting my wax.. good luck!

even if its not snap taffy... im just sick of the wax. ive given up on the dabber.. I just raised my nail, and drop a chunk onto the nail with my fingers, hoping it doesnt stick to my finger and fall off weird, only half of it hits the nail, and the rest drip down my dome :(
