Ok there are no light leaks in the res my res temp is at 67.4 right now and last night the low for it was 66 and the high is 74 so i dont know how i could get root rot so im hoping its not!! My box temp is at 80.4 right now with 30% humidity. I measured the box and the plants. From the top of the net pot to the glass its 32 inches so that means i have about 30 inches to work with so nothing gets burned. My plants are currently standing at 7 inches tall right not but bushy due to tying them down. So i figure by monday or mabye wednesday they will be at the 10-12 inch mark im hoping. Ive noticced that from tying down my plants they are growing a little slower vertically but are bushing out alot. I guess thats casue the whole plant has light and not just the stalk if i were to have it not tied down. Anyway here are some pics from a second ago that i snapped on my phone. Im praying this is root rot and you guys can help me to make sure it isnt.

Ok people i think i might be f'ed my roots are brown. Its weird though the very botom of the roots are not really brown but the roots that are coming out of the net pot and towards the top of the water or not in the water are really brown and it doesnt seem like a slimy brown but it comes off when i rub it but like a liquid is this def root rot or is this just from nutes i didnt think the roots would rub off so im thinking its root rot or algea or something. My plants still look really healthy but havent been growing as much as they were PLEASE HELP

It LOOKs like the beginning of rot or a really bad case of nute stain. Try getting your resevoir temps down a touch into the high 60kd and add some h202 to the res, I wouldn't add nutes just give it a day or two and make sureat you find a way to drop your cabin temps another 5 drgrees or so, they'll grow a bit faster and the roots should crisp back up. Are you having a lot of ph fluctuation or is it holding well? Anything growing on the bottom of the netpot or sides?

i just checked the botom of the netpots and there are actually like 6-10 new bright white lights coming out of the net pots making there way to the water. I just checked my ph it was at like 6.5 i got it back down to 5.6 i smelt the roots and they dont stink and there is no slime in the res. I cant tell if the roots are slimey or not but some brown comes off on my hand when i touch the roots but its not super slimey i feel like it could just be like a brown water liquid. I dont know.... ANyway ill try dropping the temps some but there are new root growth spots on all the plants. I think the new growth is from the superthrive i added yesterday. IF i had root rot would there be new roots forming?? The roots that are new are so nice and white becasue they havent hit the res yet i think. SO mabye its not root rot i dont know you tell me lol im freaking out. Im starting the think i like soil better hahaha less stress

Honestly I think ur just freakin out lol. Are your plants happy and healthy? Are they still growing? U said ur roots didn't stink, how do they smeel though? They should somewhat resemble a fresh lettuce smell. If you ask me uve got a nice root stain going on is all. Try a day of h202 if ur really worried about it. Ull like soil for the ease but when ur yields get cut by 30% and u only have to go in ur room every couple days ull be praying for a res to change or ph to adjust lol.

Oh and u said u went from 6.5 to 5.6? Be careful man every point represents a 10x change to the plants. Adjust your ph slowly over the day to reduce shock, if u find it climbing too high start you.water a bit lower next res change try ph ing to 5.2 and allow it to drift up to 6.2 and slowly adjust back down. Read up anything by roseman,I know ur not in BP but I feel his threads will help you a lot as for as maintainence and time saving tips.

AHHHHHHH, there growing slow because u keep touching them. Leave em alone. Its not root rot its normal. Plants shit and piss like us and nutes in the rez all result in browning of the roots. Root rot is blacking of the roots, very slimy feel, very bad smell like old gym clothes. And when u touch the roots your rubing micro hairs off and damaging/slowing root growth. The #1 cause of plant problems is too much TLC. They love to be left alone and given there privacy.

Get h202 or hydrogen peroxide its cheap will prevent and bacrteria from growing in the rez and will create 4x amount of roots

Ok so i have been trying not to freak out and let my plants do there thing. Here is an update on what had gone on over the weekend. The Roots that were in the res are completly brown and look a little slimy. There are new roots however coming out of the net pot about to hit the res. The new roots are coming out everywhere and there are triple the amount of new roots compared to the old roots. Quick question, should i trim the old roots that look like there dead off or just leave them?? Im still not sure if it is root rot or not becasue there is no bad smell to them at all. There is also no slim in the res, but the roots themself are a little slimy not really really bad but they are a slimy brown. Anyway the plants have been growing but super slow, also the plants still look very healthy. Pretty much the main thing i have seen since the brown starting is the griwth has slowed down, everything else looks healthy and how it should. Tommorrow i will be changing the res and switching to 12/12 the two plants are about 8 inches tall but really bushy with an even cannopy and about 4-6 nodes that are even with the main top node. When switching the res should i cut cut the other roots that are brown and sort of slimy off and let the other ones take over or should i dip them in some ph water with super thrive or h202 and try to get some of the brown off. I have no idea which to do or if i should do any of that. If it was root rot would the new roots coming through be nice and completly white and look 100% perfect like they do?? Anyway here are three pics of what the plants are looking like. Any suggestions or help would be grealty appreciated!!

New roots are growing like crazy and the plant is starting to grow more noticeably. I am one plant is at about 10 inches the other is about 9 i am going to change the res today and switch to flower. The nutrients i am using are Advanced nutrients Sensi bloom A&B, Botincare-Sweet, amd from the technaflora success kit i added a little magical and a little awsome blossom, and then last but not least some superthrive. Will all these nutes go fine together?? I know the Sensi Bloom A&B superthrive and sweet are ok together but is it alright that i added the magical and the awsome blossom? Once i hear that its ok i will begin to switch the res out and then switch to flower my water has been sitting for 24 hours now and i just added the nutes so im hoping there ok together so i didnt just waste alot of nutes. Once i switch everything out i will have some updated photos

Ok i cleaned the res very good since i was scared of root rot. I also cleaned the airstones. While i was changing the res i had the girl dip the plants into a bucket of ph'd water with some superthrive in it to try and get some of the gunk off the roots and make them a little healthier. Im having alot of problems with my box temp it has hit in the 90's and the res temp hit in the 80's so i have been adding some ice to the res to keep it around 72 and opening the door to the box and having a big fan blowing in the box to keep it around 77 which is still to high but im putting a window unit in my room to try and keep the temps down. Anyway the 400 watt hps is now in a going. Nutrients are sensi bloom A&B, superthrive, sweet from botinacare and a little magical and awsome blossom form the kit for sucsess from technaflora. Never used these nutes before so hopefully the plants will like everything i gave it. I will have some new photos tommorrow changing the res and scrubing everything down took alot out of me and its 90 degrees so im so hot and tired. So new pics tommorrow people

From experience, leaving that door open will smell up your whole house. If you have an ac that is venting outside, it will vent the smell outside which is no good! You may not even notice that your house smells, but believe me when I say that others will notice. If possible, buy a portable ac unit rather than a window unit. The latter might work, but I've found that placing the portable ac unit right behind the box and directing the cold air flow to the intake, really helps.

Yeah, portable ac is definitely preferable because you have a little more directional control. I live in a hot and humid state though, so maybe it's more of a problem for me. With my box closed, filter on, and ac running in another part of the room, my box temp was ranging from 87-89 degrees. Then I moved the ac behind the box and the temps fell to 84-86 which was still a little too hot, so I ghetto rigged a cardboard box to direct airflow right to the intake. Now my temps range from 82-83 which I can live with. I paid $150 on craigslist for this ac unit.
