When I was like 14-ish, my dad got some crazy crackhead deal from some guy he worked with. A 1972 Cadillac Sedan de Ville 472ci with crazy low miles in practically mint condition. Even the leather was pretty much perfect. All it needed was a stupid wheel bearing and the dude sold it to my dad for $50. Bet that land-yacht would be worth something today in that condition.
Also had a 9 with ice (70 something Electra 225 (2+2+5 get it? ;)) Power everything but most of the stuff didn't work. Real land yacht. Comfy seats like a Barcalounger. A lot of those old cars in good shape are worth a few bucks now.

I got a late 80's 4wd Comanche pickup for $60 from a crackhead guy that worked at a autobody shop

Nice! Being a broke redneck growing up in Amish Paradise, I became a master of finding cheap-ass cars from driving around getting stoned and exploring back roads with the boys. We pulled many a $200 car out of some weird places. My best spend was $200 for a '75 Charger. Man, that car was fun. Probably about the best $200 I ever spent on a vehicle.

Yeah this tj is kinda like a deal I can't pass. Even the drivetrain is worth what I'm paying for it. Put it in my Comanche ;)

My last XJ was a '96 "Country" trim model. Fucker ran just long enough to pull up into my driveway and never started again. Paid $300 for it from a neighbor; ended up selling it for $600 for parts. Have a feeling the damn thing only needed a fuel pump but I was just pissed about the whole thing and said fuck it. All leather interior and the NP 237 Seclec-Trax xfer case with AWD option. Really wishing I could have gone out and played in that one. Only had like 160K on it.

It was probably a simple fix. That straight 6 is a hard motor to stop.

Beyond doubt. Ran like a champ pulling into my driveway, so it couldn't have possibly been anything major. In PA, any vehicle's undercarriage is bound to be coated in rust, and this one was no different. Would have had to just cut out and replace the tank straps and long J-bolts to get the tank out and pump replaced, which was more than I wanted to have to put into it at that point.

My xj came from south PA. I don't know if they really didn't use it much in the winter or what. But it's much cleaner than what we were finding in North NJ. My crackhead mj was sold long ago but I have another 2wd that is pretty clean too. Not as nice as my xj but a great solid start. Some tubing........some welding......this drivetrain......

Can never really kick the addiction lol
