BML is producing their version of a grow light. They have the SPYDR 600 and a 1000 to come. They seem to be a slightly more powerful version of the Illumitex offering. I see little in the way of cooling fins on their heat sink/housing. Anyone here used these lights? Whats your opinion of them?

I have been using a 600 with my selection of spectrums for 2 weeks

Come by to follow along

The breeder, whose seeds I am using, is blown away

If you look in the forum sections, you will see I have done a full review
Got a link? I emailed BML about costs for two. Hydrobuilder seems to be the only retailer as yet. They sell the SPYDR 600 for $999 + $25 shipping on ebay or $999 no shipping direct from their web site. They're expecting the 1000 to sell for $1699. Seems to be just adding 4 more bars, possibly a different driver.

Is it necessary to keep a fan directly on them. It doesn't appear to have much in the way of cooling fins that I can see. I'm concerned they may run too hot.

they are more efficient with a fan... yet they dont use one

why wouldn't they want a more efficient panel...not a less efficient one...isnt that what companies stive for.... efficiency?

so not adding a fan for cooling is an inherent design flaw = bad design

thanks PET

NO NO NO! Stop turning good threads bad, the BOTH of you. YES, it is a flaw but calling ppl names or being smart isn't what this is here for.

We need to start taking into consideration where the lights are being applied. climate- the surrounding air's temps, the amount of air in the environment itself! Maybe they werent designed for us closer/cab/nook and cranny growers, maybe that's why they run warm. Or maybe they were and the environment itself is out of spec. My AT runs hot but at the same time they use fans (yea, maybe they could be bigger- but then comes the question of where's the point I diminishing reruns, would it help, would it not...) <--- all q/a for who put the panels together in the first place. But I'm also sure they weren't expecting growers to use a greenhouse style light in a cab with a footprint smaller than a 2x3, or less than ideal conditions. In a 3x3 I can set it a forget it.

....damn!

Poor Spaz just likes throwing mud on anything I say about BML.

He literally makes a negative response to every post I make about BML

I simply cannot let him get away with confusing noobs who are asking honest questions

I looked at your other thread. I see you went the custom order route, using mostly white chips. Was the "grow-max" spectrum too red for you? I think it seems very heavy in red, but yours seems too be kind of light in the red spectrum/

I am running a fan so half is going to the canopy the other half over the bars/driver

Bars got much cooler after that, which is supposed to improve PAR efficacy

lets break this down for a second....

-Buds doubled in 3 days....

-Telling people to spend a grand on a light after 8 days...

-Admitting BML isnt focused on MJ growing at the moment....

are among some of the posts that you have written on the guise of helping noobs out...so you are doing a fine job on slinging mud on BML yourself...

we have yet to see the longevity of this light and you have yet to do a grow from clone/seed to finish....

its clear why you have been so over the top from day one of receiving it... you are desperate to keep this free light...

your opinions are doing more to steer people away from BML than they are helping it due to your complete lack of honesty and neutrality...

415 I hear you. It frustrates me that I have to rebut spaz's negativity

Just go to my thread to see how well the SPYDR is working

No matter how hard spaz tries to disparage it (he is relentless), the SPYDR is WORKING REALLY WELL

That I could tell after just 3 days that it was going to be a contender seems to drive spaz nuts, though I suspect he was that long before me talking up BML. Intelligent people can put 2 + 2 together. Spaz can't, and he can't let it go

Red1966

Red dominant spectrums are fine for leafy green plants, but not ideal for mj, which is a fruiting/budding plant and benefits from a full spectrum white light, but more 'red' during flower. The entire 590-650nm range (yellow/orange/red) is what drives flowering. The more of them a light has, the more 500-600 is needed to drive it

Newer WW whites diodes provide a full spectrum, including ~ 5-7% blue. Most strains of mj only need about 15% blue during veg, then less as they flower

Several LED DIY grows are using only Cree 3000K WW COBs and getting really fine results, so I based my blend on that awareness, BUT, I was shooting for a blend that would be great for both veg and flower, thereby saving personal use growers from needing 2 SPYDRs. Besides $999 is a chunk a $$$$ for most people, but by doing proving it can do both, more people might buy it.

I would rather have one fan on my plants and my bars, then mediocore fans on my actually unit consuming watts, but thats just me

You keep a fan on the light bars and it cools them and raises your PAR, is what Nick from BML is stating. I'm assuming it has to do with the unit running more efficiently when cooler. Not really a big deal since most people have fans pointed at their grows to begin with.

I have never disparaged the light...I have highlighted your lies and lack of neutrality... big difference

yeah your right.. all the DIY guys and major LED light manufacturers feel the same...

First buy from BML directly, Nick can customize your light spectrum to your needs or you can choose theirs, so start doing some research on what spectrum you are looking for and what your needs are if you decide to customize

I am using the grow max spectrum http://www.bmlhorticulture.com/spydr-600-grow-max-spectrum/

Nick can make anything a SPYDER so choose look through everthing they have to offer.

If I could do it all over again, I would make a spyder out of this

http://www.bmlhorticulture.com/led-light-bar-solar-max-spectrum/

reason is because it includes the far red and thats awesome for flowering.
