I use something called mancozeb. It may or may not contain copper. One source I read says it contains manganese and zinc, another said "inorganic copper," whatever TF that is.

I have read some growers stating concerns that the copper could turn into something toxic as a result of combustion, but that's all I know. I chose mancozeb because I read that it is used to control fungus in tobacco, recommended by the ag experts at the University of Kentucky.

I found a list of fungicides approved by California for cannabis. It's almost all "natural" oils like neem, rosemary, cloves etc. No metals on the list, far as I can tell.

I try to use mancozeb as seldom as possible, after rains to prevent powdery mildew. I can't really say if it works or not. I've had some PM on plants recently, mainly on a strain that I think is kind of vulnerable (Godfather Purps). I gave one plant a good soaking but two days later it still appeared to have the white powder on the leaves... but that could be dead mildew for all I know.

Lately I've been more aggressive about just cutting off foliage that has PM. It mostly attacks the leaves, and it attacks AFTER a rain, according to what I've read and seen on my plants. In fact, I read somewhere that just spraying plants with water might get rid of it or at least push back against the infestation. Apparently PM does not like A LOT of water, just dampness.

I have 2 la affie that are succeptible to pm, both in deep flower... What I have been doing to get me to harvest is hosing my plants down with water with a spray gun during the sunny windy day, as much times as I walk by the plants...

I mostly get rid of pm succeptible strains but this is my first time running la affie, I also wash away the pm with a jet of water when im not lazy enough....

The pm dont like water but likes humidity during a rain

why not? I think we are talking outdoors in veg.

I actually use the product but on fruit tree's to control peach leaf curl. It worked great as I didn't get it on my peach tree this year. But I wouldn't use it on something like cannabis but that's just me. I don't spray anything but neem on plants and only before they start to flower. It does say on the label that it's harmful if swallowed absorbed through the skin or inhaled. That may just be a generic disclaimer but I don't want any possible contaminants in my weed.

Q Can I smoke product 4 weeks after using Bonide Liquid Copper for control of powdery mildew?

Bonide Liquid Copper Fungicide Concentrate is not labeled for use on anything smokeable. We would recommend checking directly with Bonide for advice on this use. Bonide can be reached at (315) 736-8231.

I would think a fungicide that is safe to use on food plants would be relatively safe to smoke. I have no experience or knowledge of this Bonide Copper Fungicide though

What works great on PM is good old potassium silicate. A couple mls/L as a foliar spray leaves an alkaline residue on the leaves and things like PM don't like that.

Good for the plants as well.

It's safe to use on vegetables and such but Bonide says to wash any produce thoroughly before consuming. It's different washing off a cucumber than cannabis.

Interesting. I have a pound of water soluble potassium silicate that I got to use with cannabis but used it for one grow and it's still sitting on the shelf. I'll give it a try since I get PM sometimes on some of my plants in the yard. I might as well use it for something since I won't be using it on cannabis anymore.

From experience with my grape cultivars it has been extremely helpful to 1). Saturate the surrounding soil with copper fungicide and 2). Spray a few times throughout veg. Pretty much cured my funga issues. I did the same preventative measures for my cannabis, so time will tell I guess.

I don’t spray during flowering, however.

I used it to get rid of PM on some plants I got off my buddy a few years ago now and it only took one application. I believe I used 5ml/L of Rhino Skin but I have a bottle of plain silicate that's 4X as strong so would have to cut way back using that. Doesn't leave much of a residue like the baking soda some people use and also has a higher pH which seems to really kill PM and other fungal problems.

Using copper doesn't appeal much to me and pot is susceptible to copper overdose too. As are people and other mammals.

Not so and copper is particularly toxic in higher doses. Fruit and veggies can be washed off pretty good but you can't get anything all out of buds. I wouldn't want to smoke any buds sprayed with 'safe' crap like our gov't allows the legal growers to use. They have no idea what chemicals can be produced when the consumable is combusted and inhaled.

I highly recommend Safergro's Mildew Cure. It won't actually cure the problem but is a great treatment. I use 10ml/quart as a preventative. It's very cost efficient. Some people use this all the way through harvest but I recommend just spraying water the last week or so. It sucks fungus spores are in the air everywhere. It can be a big pain in the colder humid outdoor areas.
