Brainstorming a feeding/watering solution…

What’s up, everyone?

My back is pretty jacked… I can carefully lift and move heavy things when needed, but for some reason repetitive standing and squatting tasks like feeding my plants really hurt after a while. My garden is small, so right now feeding it involves prepping a couple/few five gallon buckets of solution. Once it’s mixed up, I use a plastic measuring cup to ladle the solution somewhat evenly among my plants.

I’d like to set up a system where I can mix up a batch of nutrients (or dump a load of AACT from my brewer) then simply open a valve to gravity feed it roughly evenly to each of my plants (just 6 plants now, but up to, say, 12 in the future).

I’m talking about unfiltered organic goodness, so I assume drip emitters are out of the question (they would clog up immediately).

I’m picturing a ~30 gallon drum sitting on an elevated platform with a manifold and tubing run to each plant

Has anyone set up a system like this?

Thanks!

But. Organic why pre mixing? Just water on top with a wand attached to a hose.

Funny enough I made something similar when I had to leave town for a few days. Wish I took some pictures.

120l water butt standing on a chair connected to a timed tap. It has options for how long and how frequent. Runs on batteries.

It then went to a Y piece as only had two plants.

I used hose pipe coiled up on the top of the pots with loads of holes cut into them. The ends where bunged obviously to stop it firing out.

Worked a beast!

BUT!!! I learnt the hard way. Before leaving the tubes were filled with air - not water. So when the time came for it to water there was a back pressure and no water came out! So make sure the pipes are not filled with air before leaving.

Came back to a sorry couple of ladies but the idea works - you just have to remove the air in the tubing!!

I like to add things like compost teas, alfalfa tea, silica, molasses, etc, from time to time - especially this go around since I didn’t have time to build a proper nutrient-loaded soil like I usually do. I’m supplementing with some liquid nutrients (Earth Juice and some fish hydrolysate).

I’m not talking about mixing anything and letting it sit.

For vacations I’ll set up a simple drip system on a timer. Not really worried about that.
