Broken HPS

I just went to fire my HTG 400w HPS for the first time and There looked like blue lightning in the inner tube and that was it. It never "fired" or lit up. Could there be something wrong with the bulb, or ballast? I let it do that for almost 15 minutes.

Well, I live in the middle of fuckin nowhere. so let me just pull one out of the week long wait it takes to order anything to this shit hole......

That's a long way of saying, no I haven't.

ive seen this with my bulbs at times but they always fire did the bulb come with the light/ballast i have tried to put a bulb in my conversion mh/hps setup and it didnt work because i didnt have a conversion bulb not sure if this helps but let me know...

well i plugged it in this morning just to try it again since I want to start flowering today and viola it fired right up so imma let it burn for 1/2 hour and then let it cool for about 15. install it in the room, set the timer for 12 and away we grow!

ALSO: I have 5 plants in a 3x3 area lined with panda with my 400w mh over them. Would it be beneficial to flower with BOTH mh and hps lights instead of just replacing the MH with the HPS?

damn man, i was sure this thread would end with you buying a new bulb.

i get mine from htg today after a looooooooong wait, so you had me scared at first

goodluck, hope it continues to work out for you.

I get mine from htg after a fucking loooong wait too. Thats awesome bro. ;D

With the metal halide conversion bulbs, do they work on any hps growlight? Or do I have to buy the expensive metal halide and hps conversion ballasts.

That's teh way I understood it at first. But then I see these conversion ballast. I dont see why anyone would buy the conversion ballast if all they needed were a bulb >_>

i think you can use a mh conversion bulb with any hps ballast, but i'm not positive

NO!!!!!!!!!!

You must buy the proper conversion ballast's and bulbs...do NOT add a regualr MH bulb to a regular HPS ballast, or add a conversion MH to a regular HPS ballast.
