Lol @ those thinking animal dung or urine is not plant nutrition. Any farmer throws this stuff on his fields. Alot of organic hard fert is made from this.

Seriously, this was a fine thread until it got misused by some inexperienced illiterates for their personal vendetta against fine growers.

lime73 you realize you're embarrasing yourself by showing the whole forum you've no clue what you're talking about by falsely labelling stuff.

Probably been said but another myth is drinking bong water gets you baked. Does that count as bro science? I remember that floating around in high school era. Barf.
Surely nobody ever actually believed this?

Though funnily enough there's a somewhat decent thc infused drink on the market in OK called Bong Water. I've had one, tasted better than I usually get from the thc drinks, got me pretty baked (though edibles are always a bit weird)

Not animal fert .... Human! Big Difference.

I'm not labeling anything, just posting what I see on forums.

Washing your buds in baking soda/water mix will remove the chemicals in the buds. Another one i heard is you can make reg seeds go all female by germinating at a lower temperature.

Don't want to use "Fert" from a meat eater. Only virgin vegans.

Carbonated water is usually fairly low pH though isn't it?
I have no idea. If it is I have had no issues because of it.

It came about because someone said it makes them grow bigger. I said Bullshit, so as carbonated spring water is £0.10 pre litre I tried it. At the same time I was having problems with Fungus Gnats. The two I was feeding carbonated water were in a small tent on their own. After a few goes of carbonated water the Fungus Gnats seemed to diminished quite rapidly.

I was right that the carbonated water made no difference to the plants.

I've read through most of this thread, good shit! But not one mention of burying a crystal on a full moon. And something about a cow horn in there too....

In a way it would over time. Fungus gnats means root problems means less growth

Fungus Gnats are bastards. Thankfully I have them under control now. It was just an observation that they haven't returned to the plants watered with carbonated. I was going to give them a Hydrogen Peroxide drench, but haven't needed to.

There's a bacillus strain of bacteria that's meant for mosquito control in pools, ponds, etc. Works really well at getting rid of gnats. Kills the larvae too. A quick search on amazon will turn it up.

Edit.... not bro science, it does the job lol

Mosquito Bits. They aren't legal for use by un-licensed persons in the UK I am afraid. I can get them shipped in, but they are stupid expensive. I can get Nematodes. Hydrogen Peroxide and Sticky traps usually fix them, the sticky traps control the adults and the Hydrogen Peroxide controls the larvae and so does Carbonated Water as it seems, I will test that theory more as I don't want to invent my own Bro-Science.

I have worked out my own theory for prevention, rather than a cure. I have read that the adults burrow into the the top few MM of the soil. I have also observed them crawling in under the pots and going in through the drain holes of the pots. I have also read that they don't like Perlite, crawling through it damages their wings. So I have changed to a coir based medium and I am going to dress the bottom of the pot with a few MM of Perlite and do the same on the top of the pot, that coupled with sticky traps and the occasional Hydrogen Peroxide drench should mean they never occur again.
