Calmag and coco

How much calmag do you add to your coco? Do you feel calmag daily with every feeding?

I have been using cali magic and their recommended is 1ml per liter. That's what I've been doing.

My plants seem to constantly have a cal mag issue. All new growth looks nice and green but the lower fan leaves are still dying off showing cal mag deficiencies.

If you're using the recommended amount of calmag you should not have a cal mag issue you most likely have a pH issue that plant does not look happy. What is your watering routine. It looks like its been over watered to me.

I ph to 6.0
I made a thread asking about overwatering and people told me to ignore it, strop treating it like soil, and water daily.

Small plant, doesnt need feed every day.Get a good runoff when you do.Never straight water.Id go 2ml per gallon on calmag.and .5-.7 EC for food. ph 5.8.

I don't use calmag with coco, if I use half the recommended amount my plants look like shit, but not in the same way yours do, I'm absolutely crap with deficiencies but that doesn't look much like calcium or magnesium def to me?

I agree with the others, don't treat it like soil, feed it daily to run off once it's got a bit of a root system.

Both of those reasons is why your plant is sick you should be watering with a pH of 6.5 to 6.8 and you should not water daily unless it is a very small amount
Edit: my bad ...I was high and completely ignored the fact they op said they were growing in straight coco

I buffer my coco with 5ml/gal calmag, water the coco before i put a seed or clone in it, and let it drip-drain the entire day. That evening i plant my seed or clone.

During feeding, i do add 2.5ml/gal calmag to every feeding, basically all the way thru the grow, up until flush.

First thing first. That plant is ready for a new pot do that first. Then follow the advice of coco growers. A plant that size i would start with 1.5 ml of CM and grow nutes to about 300 ppm total 6.0 ph and water to 10 to 20 percent runoff.

Well I grow in coco also and have to use calmag. What nutes do you use i would love having not to bother with CM

Years of growing in coco and have never used calmag. I never used it in hydro either. In fact I've never used calmag in my life. It's the most overused additive out there. Most people don't need it. I'm not saying some don't need it but it used to be something hydro growers used. Now it's become a product in many growers arsenal of products. If you use tap water you are likely providing all the Ca and Mg the plant needs. Too much Ca can lockout P/K.

Use it if you need it but check the labels on your nutrients. They may already provide adequate amounts of Ca and Mg.

Do you ever run into issues from chlorinated tap water?

Never to late to learn. You have my attention i use pre buffered canna coco and 3 to 4 weeks into the veg im needing cal mag. It corrects the issue so it def was needed. Then i use 1.5 to 2 ml in at least every other feed.

With coco it depends on the nitrogen source being used. If you use a product like Jacks where calcium nitrate is used then you won't have any calcium issues and no need for calmag. That's not a sure thing but a very high percentage. Tap water also needs to be considered.
