Can Anyone Help W/ Fogponics?

Hey, can anyone help me with my fogponics setup. I have been trying to get my fogponic cloner working and Ive been having trouble. I take cuttings and put them in the fog cloner and they die in about two days. I have a DIY fogponic cloner that is basically a shallow rubbermaid bin water and a single disc ultra sonic fogger. Im not sure if its because its not producing enough fog or if its a temp issue. The water I would say stays between 80-90 and the fogger is on constantly because like I said I'm not sure if Im making enough fog. If anyone can help at all it would be much appriciated.

Bump. So no ones played around with fogponics? Can anyone at least point me in a direction to get some info?

Ok, let's assume I have done a little bit of leg work before I asked the question, i.e. I have searched through the threads for my answers and I have not found anything i found helpful, searched the internet in general for my answers, and asked all my friends and acquaintances and have not found the answer to my questions which you would think are basic questions but I can't find any concrete answers only numerous possibilities. If these questions get answered I would be able to completely understand my problem and be able to remedy it. If not trial and error is my next best solution. So not to insult or anything but thanks for nothing

How high are the plants above water level, with my limited experience i had them within 2 inches cause thats as high as i could get the foggy mist.

I've not used one of those foggers but the principles of cloning are all the same so the method it really kind of unimportant. Sounds like they are not getting enough moisture absorbed by the stem. Not producing enough fog. Can you cut down the height of the tub to reduce the airmass the fogger has to fill? 80s is fine for cloning.

Yeah thats what I though. My original tube was probably 18" x 36" and about 2- 3 inches and they fell over and died quick. I just wasnt sure if water temps were an issue with foggers? but I have been running the new setup without any cuttings yet just to watch it for awhile. they don't get that hot really. It seems to fill up with fog. the fog comes out the top when I remove a cup. Its a sealed system when all the cuttings are in so the fog can only build up to max capacity. the new set up is alittle bigger than 12" x 24" the water is 2 inches down and I think thats as far as I can push it up

I use a hybrid system with fog and get great results. Fog alone can't carry everything that the plants need. Some stuff is bigger than the 5 micron size the foggers basically smash the solution into to create fog. The micro sprinklers in the FogBox system are set on a cycle timer along with the foggers. I usually start with 1 minute on, 3 minutes off with clones and work my way down to 45 sec on, 5 minutes off in full flower. Even with 5 minutes off, there is still fog in the chamber. The 360 spinning sprinklers also mixes the fog around in the chamber, creating a vortex of mist and fog. The bottom of the chamber is always full of a constant level water with a cool 360 flexible air defuser. It bubbles like champagne! It's basically DWC a safety net in case you loose power or your pump clogs or something. I've had a crop survive a 8 hour power outage and didn't really miss a beat. You get the lateral root growth & other benifits of aero/fog on 3/4ths of the root system and a constant, highly oxygenated source of water & nutes on the bottom 1/4th. Works quite well.

i have built a fogponic system and mine is working awesome. i suggest the setup i have it rooted in 3 days contact me if you want the plans for it its the only way to go as far as i am concerned.

Do you use your fogponic system for cloning?

If your new design releases lots of fog when you take a cup out - then it'll probably work now... can u prop the fogger up with something to make it even closer if you need to?

thatdjsnow, thanks for the reply, actually my set up consists of one 5 gallon bucket, one gallon distilled water recomended General Hydroponics nutes,one mister/fogger with bouy, one airpump which is connected to a tube running to the bottom of bucket , but not in nutes, angled upwards to blow the fog at the roots , / there was a red led on the mister/fogger which i covered with black silicone, the lid has 7 - 3" holes with net cups and neoprene inserts ,,, ph is nominal 6 ,,, ??????

iv found that when doing clones sticking them in water with nutes and air stones works great. then once i have roots i put them in a tote with a fogger. fogger for clones never worked very well

I have been messing with fog for awhile. If temps are a problem, force the fog from an external res into the chamber with a fan. You won't manage with a single head. Go 3 head at least IMO. Use clear nutes, nothing heavy. Also take out the discs and clean them periodically for a longer life. I run a three head fogger until the roots drip. It works fine. There is a guy on ebay that sells them cheap. He says the the same nutrimist uses. + he gave me extra discs and a float so I didn't have to keep f'n with the water level.
