this is my first out door grow, i am just vegging my plants indoor under a couple of 1000watts, i plan to stick them out side in about 1.5 months to flower, but here in Australia is will be the start of winter. is this ok if they have a shade over them? or do in need a green house? i think the coldest it gets here is about 40F or 5degrees. any help would be appreciated.

whats the daytime temps? you have a few 1000w lights, what kind of lighting? what is your light photoperiods around now and when you plan to flower? that and temps are the only things that really matter imo.

I don't know much about Australia man, but you know you need 12 hours of light, 12 hours of dark, to start flowering, right? Is that during your winter ? Or am I confused

Idk i'm baked

if its still cold, and the lighting for flowering isnt right yet, then i say you can do extremely well with your 1000 watters indoor..i would stay indoor if i were you dude :hump:

:peace:

Did you say that it gets to 40 degrees during winter there, and maybe as low as five. 40 degrees even when its sparatic will eventually kill your plants. its way to cold for marijuana. I would say just finish it inside. Is there any reason why your not finishing the grow inside. Also how tall is the plant and how far along is it.

thanks for your reply. my day light temps are around between 60 and 68f the australian temps arnt all that cold and there is 11 to 12 hours of light per day. i have 1 MH and 1 hps both 1000watts im on a 20/24 cycle and ill be flowering in the 1st week of june which is the begining of winter. how cold can the plants withstand?

40 degrees is the worste possible senario it will get here, its usually not a cold winter but u have a freak night here and there. average night temps are around 55+. i cant finish them inside thats why i want to see what my options are?

you could finish them outside then i mean its tough to say what will happen. The plant can flower in less then 12 hours of light but, i mean 12 is best.

what if i put them in a greenhouse or used some sort of an cover made from an anti frost material what that solve my problem?

dude of course you can grow them outdoors i grew mine outdoors in iceland ffs it goes well beyond 0 here, youll be fine dude,i mean of course it isnt the best to have it so cold but ull survuve just hope ur plants are mold res

totally wrong info. No NO WAY HE GREW IN 0 Degree weather. Straight up impossible. I would recommend that if you have a green house why not use it. Esp since you have grown it inside with a 1000 watt light.

thanks Vertise, i think i didnt explain myself properly the coldest night i would have in my area would be about 41 Fahrenheit which is 5 celsius but thats a one off, the night temps would be more around 50 to 55 fahrenheit, i dont have a green house but im looking at purchasing one the material is frost proof to protect the plants from frosting, taking all that into consideration and the fact there is 11 to 12 hours of light, can i go ahead with my greenhouse grow?

Yeah you should be fine finishing them off outside. If you get a greenhouse you could also control night time temps with a small heater. Not really a problem if your greenhouse is sealed up pretty good, if so then it will be warmer during the day in the greenhouse than outside, and those temps would stay around for a while after dark. In essence the greenhouse could raise your temps by a good 5 to 8 Degrees F at night.

As far as lighting goes, when we grew in our greenhouse in Hawaii we would just put up a few banks of T8 lights in the greenhouse so would could start growing when we wanted to veg longer. If you can add 6 hours of light in when its dark out then you can start vegging when its a 12/12 photo period outside and still have an 18/6 light schedule. We did this to add several months on to our veg time, thats the only way to grow monsters outside.

dude its not impossible! there were a few days when my plants were outside in 0c weather durig the winter,im not saying constantly 0 degrees:leaf:

oh, but yea man you can just create even a cheap frame out of wood or pvc or whatever material and just cover that with a clear plastic. No need to do anything major. how many plants are you doing just one.

ive got 7 plants all up there gonna be 6ft by the time i get them outside, i like the idea of the wood and clear plastic, am i better of planting in the ground? there sitting in coco already. or would i be better off leaving them in there pots and puting a heat matt under them(not sure if that would help)

i am not sure about putting them in the ground and wow six foot each by the time you put them outside. Your gonna have 10 foot plants. I mean I think it may be fine, but I am not really sure about the root temps. Usually the roots like to be the warmest. However i dont see a other option considering the roots will most likely outgrow the pots your using by the middle of flowering. I also have a link that you should check out. Let me find it and i will post it for you.
