Can I get away with a smaller fan than I have????

20170104_134020.jpg Here is my "fan/box-silencer-carbon filter" setup suspended in the attic. The silencer helps alot, but like they^^^ said, it's nothing more than an 8" tube with egg crate foam lining the inside. It kills that "whoooshh" sound. I think suspending it in the air helped as much as anything with that "vibration/hum" that comes with some fans.

*I blow out of my filter instead of sucking into it bc I use this setup to vent more than 1 area. Kinda works like a central vacuum station or something. Lol.

i have 4" setup.....so getting eggcrate inside might be an issue, but I am going to try it :-)
