here's my jam.
get a solid color rubbermaid bin big enough to fit a humidity dome. cut a hole in the lid of the bin so a lower power led or flouro can shine through. No need for a heat mat. leave the light on 24hrs obviously.
prepare your moms a day or two before to minimize stress, trim them into palm trees. slightly cut the tips off one or two bigger fan leaves to prevent excess transpiration.
using root riots, and when you're ready to clone - fill a large glass with RO water. Starting with one plant, cut each prepared section with a new/wetted razor blade at about a 45 degree angle in the woody area. the woody area is key, if you're trying to clone too new of plant growth - you will have a very difficult time. immediately place into the glass of water; you want to minimize the time the freshly cut end is exposed to air, and repeat until you've cut everything you want from this plant. You really have all the time in the world now so just go slow. soak the root riots in RO water. When ready, take out a cut, score the back of the stem at the cut by just running the edge of the razor blade perpendicular along it lightly a few times until you feel the grittiness of the outside layer removed, dip in rooting gel, or fresh coconut milk and place into the root riot gently. Be gentle, you don't wanna fuck up the cut end. pre-poke the root riots if necessary. btw, I just use the root riots upside down so they stand on their own.
when all done, put them inside the humidity dome (or similar), mist them, whatever, and put the dome inside the bin under the light. now just leave them the fuck alone for a while. Don't really need to bother looking at them for at least 4 or 5 days. They will make their own environment in there and be happy.
I typically find that after about a week, the root riots dry up a bit so I add a little bit of water and remove the dome, almost the next day roots are busting out. been doing it this way for years and can't remember the last time a cut didnt root. It becomes a machine after a while.
goodluck! Dont over think things
