can people of color be racist?

This thread is at about the intellectual level I have come to expect for RIU.

There is a book that one can use to look up the standard definition of words, I think it is called a dictionary. On the other hand, if you want to be racist you can just make up words to fit your psychosis.

even blacks are socialized to be racist against blacks.

blacks are not immune to the anti-black racist white power structure this country was built on.

So now whites are responsible for making blacks be racist against each other? Bullshit.

Next you'll be telling me that whites can make a single black person be racist against himself.

Yup, slave owners gave privledges to some blacks in order to give the illusion of power. This is a tactic used by the oppressors. In Pablo Freies pedagogy of the oppress, he says "the opressed then become the oppressors" hence black cops or black people with white privledge, which is small crumbs compared the the whole pie.

So its society's fault? Why do you blame individuals?
I blame the oppression caused by neo liberal white supremist capitalist patriarchal system. As for the individuals? Well I show sympathy towards the ones that are not aware, eneducated. But I do however blame then ignorant ones, the ones that know they are causing oppression.

Well yes, that's exactly correct. We see this with black people in the conservative party.
Imo one of the worse of all evil is convincing people that they deserve opression, or that it doesn't exist. This is a illusion that racism creates.

there are studies, murdoch.

blacks and whites both did simulations where they were tested in mock shooting a suspect or an innocent. not surprisingly, whites showed a bias in shooting blacks pictured holding just a cellphone instead of a gun. but interestingly, so did blacks to some extent. less so with white suspects across both races.

how do you think that happened?

Yes. "People of color" can be racist. Any action to another person that causes that person harm, profiled based on skin color, is racially motivated.

No CC Dobbs, racism is most certainly not a "white mans thing". Have you ever been to Japan? How about India? No. Ok, well you should watch or read some VICE. They have several exposes on rampant racism in those countries.
Maybe, but it's not American racism. American racism is the best in the world.

I can buy this. Buck needs to read it.

And were the clothing, facial expressions, sound, light, etc., strictly controlled by test experts in every simulation?

And were enough simulations run (i.e. hundreds), and then was the data properly analyzed?

Well, I can't say for sure that you and Buck are wrong. I've never personally run the experiments myself and seen the actual data. But I just can't see how blacks are racist against each other.

A black person who is racist against another member of his own race? Mind boggling.

no, scientists got drunk and forgot how to set controls and utilize sufficient sample sizes that day.

no, scientists got drunk and forgot how to set controls and utilize sufficient sample sizes that day you fucking retard.

Scientists make conclusions from experiments all the time that are proven partially or wholly false Buck.

See NASA, physicists in general, the Bohr model of the atom, etc.

The fact is that you don't know what controls were placed on the experiments you described. My questions were completely valid.

Seems like the answer to the question depends on how you define racism. I like the distinction between racism being power based and different from prejudice, at least as a thought exercise if it isn't the dictionary definition.

But claiming that you are not a racist, only prejudiced, isn't a whole lot better! Both seem like human failings to me, albeit different levels of failure.

So then, can you tell me where you got your definition definitionof racism, and maybe even put into contex.
Btw your statement about "saying you can't be racist because your black" is what I'm trying to prove my point about
about. If we define racism with white supremacy and whitte privledge, and power, how can people of color be racist when they don't have power?
I don't think having power is elemental to racism. I've seen plenty of poor, powerless people exihibit racism.

I think he is describing power at the institutional level, like when a black guy gets sentenced to a longer term than a white guy who commits the same crime.
Statistically, whites recieve longer sentances than blacks. Hence, murderers of blacks (mostly blacks themselves) recieve shorter sentances than murderes of whites (mostly whites themselves) tend to receive shorter sentances. This was once a rallying cry for the race baiters untill it was pointed out they were in effect demanding longer sentances for blacks than whites for the same crime. He's trying to link racism with power. Power isn't necessary to racism.
