I get what you're saying but compassion only goes so far.We all remember the days of leaving doors unlocked without a worry of intrusion or theft. There were also less people and less cultural diversity. Dad made $2.10/hr and gas was 38 cents a gallon (4.54 litres) in the early 70s. With his wages, he fed a family of 8. So I get how things seemed better then. With an hour's wages there was a full tank of gas which got him to work, church and a Sunday drive. Six kids crammed into a 64 Dodge. Good times!
Up into the late 80s the doors were never locked. Until one time when my brother came home late, there was a guy stark naked with his head in the garbage can, passed out and oblivious to his surroundings when awakened. Apparently his buddies pranked him, as they convinced him that he was home. We all got house keys after that. We never thought to blame the PM of the day for the invasion.
The evening news hasn't been watched in our house since the 90s during shock and awe in the George W days. Dismembered bodies was glorified/normalized, but heaven forbid we see a nipple at a halftime show. In that same timeframe was the last when the Sun newspaper was looked at - striclly for the sunshine girl.
Homelessness is complicated. Mental health and drug addiction is in all facets of society. And I get how you can't lead a horse to water. IMHO compassion goes a long way vs judgement and saying they should just get a job. Pretty hard to get a job without a resume, credentials, a fixed address, a bank account, transportation, etc. Being kind costs less than incarceration everyday. Anger issues can be helped with counseling and proper medication if there's a will. There's a ton of trauma out there, often through no fault of their own. But it's everyone's responsibility to heal from it in whatever way they find meaningfull.
As a bit of an empath, I love everyone and listen to people's stories. Often sympathizing for what they've gone through, and hoping that they heal from the things that no one ever apologized for.
Here's a meme that I found fitting. I've voted orange, green, blue and red. It's my character that defines who I am, not how I vote.

I have no compassion for criminals breaking into people's houses and killing them over a car. None for the guys running into jewelry stores smash and grabs. None for the dealers selling fentanyl, heroin and cocaine or the cartel smuggling people and guns/drugs across the border. You're right. Times change but liberal policies don't.
You speak on homelessness and how you have compassion for these people would you open your door to them? Since you are so compassionate? Would you lend a helping hand? And not just giving them 5bucks to go buy crack. I mean really putting yourself out there to help them? If not then your argument doesn't hold water. You FEEL sorry for them. That doesn't help the problem. You need to address the core issues like poverty, the fact that the liberals ruined so many people's lives through the COVID bullshit that now they have no where to live. Liberals do not care about these core issues. They like putting blankets over things and then blame someone else so they are never held accountable for their failed policies. You threw a stat at me earlier about how crime was 'only up 40%' but you were quoting a statistic that was crime overall. I was talking about violent crime. Which is up over 116%. Just wanted to make that clear.
The liberals are making Canada poor they are taking away our hard earned money to pay for their reckless spending. They won't bat an eye to add billions to the deficit and make you and your kids pay for it until they die, all while telling you what you can and can't do where you can and can't go under their tyrannical reign.
Why do we continue to let these globalist rich pricks run our countries? Talk about just like trump Carney is ultra wealthy. He's just another business man just like trump. He was not a member of parliament, and if he didn't call an election and the house resumed he would have had to sit in the viewing area. He was not an elected mp. Funny how they stuffed him into a liberal riding where he's almost guaranteed to win a seat regardless. Liberals are a joke. They will burn our country to the ground and happily reign over the ashes. They don't care what they do to us they just care that they are in power.
