Democratic Socialism is the answer. Provide free healthcare and schooling for everyone. Regulate the housing market, and eliminate credit debt. Take the control from the 1% and put it back in the hands of the citizens!!!

....Do you endorse using government violence against people to make them erm "voluntarily enroll" in your vision of "the answer" ?

How am I a fool? Instead of our tax money paying for corporate handouts, it would go towards our own healthcare and education.
Tax money already supports K-12 education. We rank 47th in results but rank 3rd in spending. Throwing more money at it has caused our schools to decline, not improve. The corporate handouts you speak of are largely tax breaks, not handouts. If I don't rob you, it doesn't mean I have given you something. The government subsidies, Pell grants, and low cost college loans have caused tuition to rise at astronomical rates, yet the quality of education has declined. We have the highest corporate tax rate in the world and we are declining in competitiveness compared to low corporate tax nations. You want "free" healthcare and education. Somebody will have to pay for it. But not you. In your idealized world, people "may" have a better education, but they won't have employment. You look at the world and say the world isn't giving me enough. It never occurs to you that you haven't given the world anything at all. Shifting resources to the slackers and taking it from the producers insures we all have less, much less, maybe even nothing. If the producers are not allowed to enjoy the fruits of their labor, they will stop producing. You're a fool because you look at the world through a prism of what you want the world to be, not what the world is. The socialists you revere so much include Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin, Kim Jong LL, and others who, upon seizing power, slaughtered their countrymen and others by the millions. Rome fell because the population voted themselves more and more benefits until the government could no longer maintain the army, and they were crushed by uneducated, poorly armed, primitive savages.

Our schools are fine.
The results look like shit because
Unlike other countrys
Our mommy and daddys are busy working jobs
and dont spend anytime with their kids
That is in the lucky households that even have 2 parents
Also unlike other countries
We dont treat our children as future prospective income sources when we can no longer work
So we are not as involved as a whole in their success

I can see to a degree what he is saying. If you raise your children with the intent of using them to support you in your old age, you are going to take a stronger role in their life choices. In most other countries, families are alot more mutually-supportive. That argument does have a nugget of reason in it.

China is hardcore in schools, we have too much freedom to be as smart as them lol.
i must correct you. a very few schools in china are extremely effective, very well funded, and good grades are ABSOLUTELY MANDATORY unless you want to get bounced out of the awesome college tracked school, into a short training program for itinerant rice harvesters or disposable factory drones. most of china's kids get schooling which would be considered about 5th grade level before they are "graduated" to the salt mines at age 14

china, like most socialist nations, and many western european nations only tests their top students who are tracked to go to university. the rest of the kids go to trade schools or internships to become ditch diggers or garbage collectors.

in the US every kid gets tested, and all the tests count, whether the kid is a 5th generation coal miner's son who will have to drop out in the 5th grade, or a kennedy, with his harvard admission slip pinned to his first diaper.

even kids who just got off the boat from siam, or just snuck across the border from mexico get tested and counted just like every other kid. this results in a very very very wide bell curve. standardized testing offers niether insight, nor enlightenment as to the efficiency of a particular school, or district's function. more money doesnt do shit when the tests are skewed by students who could have never been inside a classroom before that day.

also the US is the ONLY country to include the test scores of retarded kids. fuck, you might as well test my cat, and last night's turd as well.

You need only watch a few episodes of "LOCKUP" to realize not only should there be Capital Pun but you would write your Govenor and tell him to step up and clean house.

We have "lifers" for whom there is no deterrent but the death penalty. Without the death penalty, murder inside prisons would be much more common than it is now. No evidence to back this up, but I think it is self-evident.

Murder inside prison is probably kept down by regular room tosses and weapon checks, probably improved security measures too. There's cheaper and more humane ways to keep murder rates down in prison.
