Fucking thieves, my number one concern this summer. Though I'll admit I would probably check someone else's plants for a few seeds and might clip a small bud for a sample but would never consider ripping a gorilla growers crop (put me in the "very very" gracious thief catagory). I am thinking I might put some of my plants in spots with good stealth but not as good light just so I can possibly air layer clone off them later. Will be starting some plants from seed soon that will get more direct sun and be less stealth.
Not sure how many plants the RA dude was running. He just showed up to comment on the RAs from what I could tell. Lot of people gave him shit for some of his claims etc so not sure how legit his posts/comments were exactly...

If a small plant then a small sample, but if that plant is a stinkin monster then I don't feel guilty of takin a couple branches and I wouldn't begrudge someone else sampling some of mine either...hell bro I give away more n that..

Yeah J, that's my take on it too. I wouldn't mind sharing, especially with a fellow grower.
I have had a crop ripped before so I know the feeling well. I had 4 nice NL#5 going in eastern Washington back in the late 90's. I remember considering harvesting them but decided to wait about a week. Next time I showed up... gone. A cop had found them. He put his card right on the plant trunk, on the back it said "call me or I will call you".
Never called him, I still have that card somewhere.
Canna, I haven't even sent that friend the description and photos of where they are yet. The area has had a lot of rain and they should have enough nutes for at least a few more weeks. He is busy tending the other 20 or so plants I started for him. Says he knows a couple good spots for them. At some point I will ask him to email me some pics so I can post them here.

Still haven't talked to that buddy yet, left him a VM recently.
My harvest was way less than last grow but I did expect it due to so many plants basically 12/12 from seed. 7 plants were all just checked for seeds and any buds were thrown in the trim bag. The rest I did a quicker job of manicuring and ended up tossing most of what wasn't good looking bud into the trim bag.
Total dried trim (no fan leaves at all) was 233 gr or 8.2 oz.
Total de-seeded, dried, manicured yield of good buds was 193 gr or 6.8 oz.
The Critical Plus 2 had a lot of root aphids as well as a couple other plants. I trimmed those buds way down and any trim went into a separate RA "garbage" trim bag (not included in the trim # above).
At some point soon I will post some pics of the seeds I harvested. Some were total duds and some produced annoying amounts of seeds. The autos and one of the HH were the best producers with the autos producing by far the best quality/mature seeds.
I saved a couple bad RA infested sugar leaves off of the C+2 somewhere and will try to take a pic them soon.
The plants that were trimmed broke down as follows:
Sugar Plum 36 gr
Sleestack Skunk 32 Gr
3 CBD plants 14 gr
Jack Herer 28 gr
Purple Diesel 10 gr
Amnesia 8 gr
JillyBean 28 gr
Sweet and Sour Widow 17 gr
C+2 13 gr
Sugar Plum X (JTR x PurUrk) 7 gr
Tomorrow will post some pics.

This morning I sat down to take some pics of the seeds and found mold in one of the bags, the HH Dutch Passion that produced the most seeds... Damn! Anyway, lesson learned. Always remove the seed husks! I was in a hurry trimming and just plucked the seeds with the husks on and threw it all in the bag. Even though I didn't close the bag, it still molded. So now I have another project, removing all the husks from all the bags.

Thankfully I was able to clean up the seeds. The mold hadn't gotten too bad yet.
Another tip on the tanglefoot I read about is you can use it to make your own sticky traps for next to nothing. Just get some yellow construction paper cut out some squares and smear the tanglefoot on with a putty knife. The cost of the store bought ones can add up... Haven't done it yet but will try it in the future.

I thought I should share some thoughts on the defoliation experiment. But, I want to mention that the only reason I did the experiment was because of a link that Popcorn900 posted in another thread about it. Some of you may not know but Popcorn passed away about a week ago. He had been battling cancer, his brother made a post to his thread.

Not sure where to start here. Do I think that defoliating will increase overall yield... No, but I do think it will cause the buds lower on the plant to produce more resin/mature faster. In my case the lower buds didn't get noticeably larger just stickier (they still went into the trim bag and not the curing jars). This is only the second time growing JB for me but last time it did not hermie and this time it produced 2 male flowers (one was found during trimming). So, if genetics are not stable or are unknown, I wouldn't risk it. I also think it slows the plant down, not as much as some claim but slower. So, if someone had a long time to veg and limited space for flowering I do think defoliation could be used as a sort of training technique with a stable strain. And, I can admit that there could very well be setups that would benefit and might yield more (with additional veg time). But, imo the vast majority of the time defoliation will not increase yield imo.
Some other positives are that airflow is greatly improved through the canopy, and it is much easier to spray the leaves for pest control.
Because of what I learned about defoliation on this grow I will be more likely to pluck a "marginal" leaf here or there but by no means will I be aiming to defoliate again anytime soon.
I should also add that just defoliating the JB the 3 times I did was time intensive. Doesn't seem like it would take that long but it does, especially with a bush like the JB was. It is hard for me to see the cost in time VS the "reward" being worth it especially if one had to defoliate every plant in the tent.
Obviously, this was not a scientific study and I am not trying to pretend this settles anything. I only did it for my own benefit because I was curious and wanted to learn first hand. Just sharing my opinion based on my experience, others are entitled to their opinion...

It's been a couple weeks, been busy getting the boat ready for the summer. Headed out over the pass for Memorial weekend. One of my friends brought some mushrooms, changed the whole "trip" in a good way... lol
I also planted 3 auto flowers out. This trip helped me realize I am going to need to take some trips this summer with just my girlfriend (not my beer drinking buddies) in order to get all my plants outside. Planning a boat in trip weekend after next.
Recently I thought I had a problem with germination rates on my newest seeds but found it was the fact I was using coco pots (for outdoor planting). They dry out too quick for reliable germination so I have switched back to solo cups even for outdoor.
At some point I will take some seed pics, I will post them here and in Mohican's seed pics thread.

Sounds like ya had fun over Memorial weekend I found it hard to get things done with some of my friends too...all they ever wanted to do was party.
Looking forward to the seed pics Cas, don't go planting seeds like Canna though, unless your ready for that life changing experience..haha

Saturday was good but it ended with food poisoning from the holiday crew at Carl's Jr. Worst part was that I had to get up early the next day and work with my crew on the garden. I was suffering big time. Thank goodness for Mexican Coca Cola!
We got four new panels up on the frame and the garden is almost ready for planting:

Mohican, that looks amazing! You will have a MJ factory there when you are done. I once got sick while in Mexico as a kid, had a high temp. The Dr. told my dad to have me drink Coca Cola and it worked, still not sure why.
