Anyone have any experience with these products? My dog has seizures and is getting older, I thought maybe there would be some combined benefits. Any help is appreciated.

You could go a bit higher - up to 2mg. I'd start off on a lower dosage for a week and if there are no improvements, then increase the dosage for the next week and so on till desired results are achieved. More is always better with CBD. Wish you success.

I'm extremely interested in this as well. I have an older dog that has seizures. It's currently on phenobarbital twice a day. I know that stuff can't be good for him. I talked to the Vet about CBD and while he didn't discount it he said that it's still being studied as a remedy for dogs prone to seizures but there has been no definitive results at this time. I'd really like to get my dog off of the phenobarbital but am worried that the CBD wouldn't control the seizures as well as the pheno.

It's a scary event every time he has a seizure as we don't know if it might be his last one.

Pheno - narcotic and sedative barbiturate drug used chiefly to treat epilepsy.

If you could source a full spectrum CBD, that'd be preferred over some isolate formula. Considering all mammals have an endocannabinoid system, we all benefit from cannabinoids. IMO, you're doing your body a disservice if you're not providing it with some cannabinoids - CBD, CBG, THC and a few others.

I'd certainly give CBD a try. Start slow and administer at a different time than the pheno so they don't compete with each other as they're metabolized by the body. Best wishes finding a solution.

My ridgeback is getting older and started having cluster seizures a year ago. They always happened when she was sleeping. She would have 5 big seizures in a 24 hour period and then nothing for about a month and then the same thing the next month. I went to the vet and they prescribed some medication but I tried the cbd route first and have been happy with the results so far. I found a company online called industrial hemp that sells cbd products at an extremely reasonable price. Got their name from a friend who owns a local dispensary and orders through them. I get their cbd isolate powder and mix it myself in oil. I played around with the dosage and have settled on 20 milligrams 4x a day. My dog weighs 150lbs. That's quite a bit more than the charts say but it's what worked and is hands down better for her than the vets suggestion. I chose cbd isolate as opposed to full spectrum as I had read that some of the cannabinoids in full spectrum are not good for dogs. I figured out that mixing 3/4 gram of isolate powder to 17 grams of oil will make each dropper from a standard tincture bottle 20 grams. She's gone down from 5 seizures per monthly episode to 4, then 2 and now is down to 1 which she seems to come of of easier. She also seems much happier and her coat is softer from the oil she's getting as a carrier. My avatar is a picture of Tallulah. Good luck. It's hard to watch a canine family member struggle like that.

I have a beagle that has pain problems and uses CBD. She will let me know when she wants it, and the only weed she ever sniffs, is high CBD weed. She will sit next to me when I smoke that, but not low CBD... I most assuredly believe in the benefits.

Agreed, lots of THC is not great for dogs. Delighted to hear your testimonial/experience.

I thought about giving CBD to my cat for his anxiety and vomiting. He vomits at least 2-3 times a week sometimes more. He's a nervous wreck.

Would love to pick your brain sometime as to how you make your oil for your dog. Have a friend whose dog suffers from seizures as well and I have been buying the CBD online but it is getting pricey and seems way more cost effective to buy the isolate and make it.
Best wishes!

I buy CBD oils here for my dog and it works for her! There are side effects in giving your dog too much CBD (liver damage - it’s listed on their website) so I try to be careful with that. The advised amount is no more than 1 mg per 1 kg of your pet’s weight. But of course, you can go lower than that especially if it’s your dog first time taking CBD. I just give my dog two drops of CBD on her dog food. You can also make some special treats using CBD but I have yet to try that. If anyone makes some please let me know how you guys do it and which ones your pet babies like the most.

My old girl had such a hard time getting up and down the steps from hip dysplasia to go outside and the vet wanting 5K for hip replacement at 15 years old. We could visibly see she was in pain and thinking about relieving her pain permanently. I went down and talked to our vet to get details and he suggested NSAIDs until we decided. When he walked out of the room the vets assistant suggested CBD oil. She whispered it to us like she wasnt supposed to say it lol. The change was instant she was more active and got up and down the steps like she was 5 years younger and she was more alert and we did not see the signs of pain and groans getting up like we did. It cost me $50 a month and she made it for over 2 more years almost 18 years old. And then one evening she didnt come and scratch at the door to be let in. I went out in the yard and she was over by her poop corner. She's still there today! (buried of course)

I'm thinking of getting some of this full spectrum hemp oil. Is anyone familiar with this company? Innovet.

I use this: https://www.extractlabs.com/product/bulk-cbd-isolate/
I mix 5 grams into 473 ml = 10.5 mg/ml
I give my girl who weighs roughly 10lb .5cc (5.25 mg) twice a day to control her seizures. I was able to wean her off Keppra and Prednisone at this dosage.

She weighs roughly 4.5 kg and I'm giving her just over 1 mg/kg twice a day (every 12 hours) for a total of 2mg/kg/24 hours. This stopped her seizures and allowed me to wean her off prednisone. The Keppra was easy the prednisone was a very long slow taper.

Doses for dogs are between 1 to 3 mg/kg. If you need anything else just holler.

I have a 15 year old Chiweenie with seizures and I and a 15 year old rescue Chihuahua I got about a year ago. She's has some joint issues. She's started limping and favoring one back leg. I know she's got some problems like hip dysplasia. I'm not going to spend thousands on an operation for a dog this old. I already spent about $1000 on her teeth which were rotten. And then almost that same amount with regular vet bills and shots. The senior panel costs about $200 and she's already had 2. My dogs get better medical treatment than I do. But I'm not spending 5K on a hip replacement for a dog this old. I'm putting her on a diet to lose weight, adding some supplements that will help her joints, and giving CBD a try.

I think one of the reasons she's having issues is because she sleeps on the bed and has to climb up and jump down. I have a 3 tier setup but she jumps down not realizing she's hurting herself. If I move the stuff the dogs pace around for hours until I let them get up because they're so used to sleeping on the bed. When these ones go to doggy heaven and I get some more I'm going to make sure that they don't get used to getting up on the bed to sleep.
