CFL Grow - G13 x Haze - Start to Finish

it's too soon for me to know for sure but it looks like I have another male...FUCK!! So keep you fingers crossed that I end up with at least 1 female...0 for 3 would be horrible!!!

yup just chopped down the 2nd male...no bueno!!! I think I see the start of some female flowers on the 3rd and final plant but I won't know until tomorrow at the soonest so we'll see...

unfortunately I have no G13's to flower right now. Thankfully there was 1 female out of the 3 plants so I now have a mother for my next grow. She was flowering for 7 days total before she showed sex. I pulled her from my flower room tonight and put her back in the cabinet under 24hr light so she should be back to vegging soon. I'll need the clones in about 5 or 6 weeks so it's perfect timing to let her grow for a while. My next grow is gonna be a SOG using the G13 x Haze clones and I'm gonna start the grow from this journal since that's where the mom came from. take care

here's my momma

thank god!

3 sativa's wouldn't have made it in Emily's Garden. I had 6 indica's in mine and they all eventually got in the way of each other.

plus you woulda been unhappy with the results from the CFL's also, with a fine strain like G13 haze U should save the CFL's for mothers and clones, and use the grown-up lights for flowering. but the CFL's woulda been the lesser issue than the Emily's Garden.

:-)I cant wait to see pics of the new mommy! good luck

yeah I knew I was screwed if all 3 were females. I think it could handle 2 pretty well though. I pulled the mom from the emily's garden and transplanted her in soil and she's doing pretty good. I'll be harvesting my current grow in a month or so and then it's time for the G13 x Haze SOG...I'm excited to do that grow

in the future you can use Dutchmaster's Reverse & Penetrator, it's a two part additive that will ensure female sexing. the penetrator is called something else now, its used so the reverser gets into the plant the way it needs to, or so is said, but my guess is it's probably just some wetting agent solution for better soil / leaf absorption (you can use it as foliar too i'm pretty sure, it's been a while). some people say it's bullshit but that's because they've never used it. i haven't had to for a while but when i used to for my outdoor grows I would end up with maybe 1 out of 50 turning male. that's pretty good for non-fem seeds.

you can get a little more science-y too and use a sodium thiosulfate solution, or a solution of part silver nitrate part sodium thiosulfate, i'd have to look up the measurements. gibberellic acid also boosts female outcome but it's not as consistent. from what i understand all the above cause the gynase enzyme in a female plant (which regulates its genetic makeup vs. environmental factors and resultant metabolic process to determine the sex. get em all pointin the right direction and it turns out a girl!) the enzyme is called andrase in male plants.

that's actually one thing i'm confused about, if anyone knows the answer, is gynase and andrase present in the vegging plant and one starts being produced more as environment / metabolism improves or worsens, and creates the according male or female hormones upon flowering? or are they both vacant to begin with and then when hormones begin a growin' the enzyme is formed as well. i'm imagining the former since i would always feed my plants before flowering and they'd come out female. this is some basic bio stuff i should know this :(

PS - silver nitrate will blind you if it gets in your eyes so be careful with that shit. it's a light sensitive compound, actually one of the first stable ones used for making photographic prints back in the day, and is still used for it today. therefore it will also turn brown if you get it on your skin and go out in the light cuz it'll expose. don't worry, it goes away, but wear gloves and if it spills on a large amount of you take shower, it takes a lot of exposure but that shit stays in your liver, which ain't good
