So last night my buddy brought over the new lights i got online that i got shipped to his house. The lights are (3) 105 watt 2700K bulbs and (1) 105 watt 6500K bulb. Becuase of the heat i only installed the 6500K spectrum. I got to say i didn't expect this bulbs to be as big as they are. Like no joke they are as long as my forearm its crazyyyyy! and they are almost as fat as a shoebox(just to give you an idea of how big were talkin). So i got three of them for flowers and one for vegin. I have 5 spouts under the new 105 watter and 2 plants under each of the 42 watt 2700K and 6500K dual bulb set up. The quality of light coming out of the 105 watter is amazing!!!! like no joke i thought the dual bulbs were bright to look at but they look dull compared to the new 105 watter. You can like see the energy illuminating out of the bulb.... i got to admit i've out done my self this time. Other than the heat issue this is like my dream grow op. I do have two fans in the grow room right now but i want to get a big box fan to put at one end to circulate the air a bit more. I can't wait to start LST'ing the plants hopefully they should get much bigger with the new light. Even having the plants under the new light for a few hours i feel has made a difference. i'm at work right now but when i get home today i will upload the pics of the plants under the new light and the new light its self.

i think when i transplant these girls im gunna make a better soil mixture... i was reading others grow logs and it seems my plants have slowed down in growth due to soil compression; (i think). So im gunna go buy some perlite before i go ahead and transplant. i might even add in some sand. would anyone recommend using sand? and would 65% organic soil/ 25% perlite/ 10% sand be a good mix?

looking good where did you get those lights? Do they screw into a normal E-26 mogul base? How is the heat off of them? grow looking good

sorry about all the questions I'm growing with small 26 w to 55 w cfls and would like to get a few of the big dogs as long as the price is right and they won't cook my plants. I want an HPS again but the heat in my new smaller grow area makes me nervous.

no don't get an HPS in you only have a grow box, you'll end up burning it up. But these CFLs i got off 1000bulbs.com are the real deal dude. I would highly recommend them to anybody growing in a small space. they do produce more heat than my 42 watters but its only a few more degrees and i have ZERO ventillation at night cus i only open the door to my crawl space when im home and awake. but the big ones deff are a great alternative to HID's, the box even says they are ment to replace HID's for better energy efficiency. i haven't started using my 2700K ones yet but they say they output 7,100 lumens each and i got three of them so im pretty excited to see what i get.

agreed. let's see more pics. we started about the same time (mine, mary :), was started 9/15) but not to be a dick, but those pics look a lot smaller than mine... i'm on 6 nodes now and just topped (uncle ben's) let's see some new pics. are those cfl's 105 watt EQUIVALENT? cuz... that'd be like 20ish watts. i'm using 6 42-watt cfl's which are each 200w equivalent. you might wanna look into that.

na its the real deal bro, 105 watts in one bulb... idk what the equivalent is its not a useful value in my opinion. i have (2) 42 watt bulbs over two of the plants and one 105 watt bulb over one other and a few sprouts.

ok well if your on the sixth node already then you have just confirmed my worst nightmare.... my plants are heat stressed and at not growing due to overheating... that really blows... i was starting to question why they weren't getting any bigger faster.... damn. my biggest plant is on on its third node and it just started it. do you have pics of your plants i'd love to check your grow op.

yeah i got a pic dude, hold up a sec. i'm trying to fix this girls computer who got one of the worst viruses of 2010 on there. dammit lol. anyway, how much were your bulbs? cuz my 42 watters putting out 200 equiv. were $9 each. jw, cuz that 105 would have to be like $20 by itself but be putting out prob around 350w by itself. if i'm not mistaken, the equivalent wattage matters more than the actual, but lumens are still more important. problem with cfl's is the lumen loss is exponential the further they are from the plant. i've got mine literally 2-3" from the top of the plant. i believe you said your temp was 91 and that you had no way of venting it, correct?

yea its 79 degrees right now with my a/c on and my little fan blowing cool air in... and ya the 105 watt was about 20 dollars per bulb... but if i can find a way to cool the room down i'll be all set. once the weather get colder i'll put my a/c in my grow room untill it gets cold enough where the weather cools the room down enough via it being winter. my house is old so i think i'm correct in my assumption but who knows. yea i have my lights like at maxium 3.5" inches away from the plant and thats only cause its in a air tight room. i know i need some ventilation but it would require cutting more holes in the door. would putting a computer sized fan blowing air into a 6' X 3.5' X 2.5' box even do anything to drop the temp? i believe either way i need to remove the hot air to have any effect on dropping the temperature so i don't think i will try cutting anymore holes. I really wanna rig up the a/c in the grow room some way. i know i'll need to make sure i properly lean the a/c and have a water catch for the output from the a/c but i think that would be great for the plants and increase my yield alot.

idk man, i'd say that if you put a 120mm or even 140mm pc fan in at the very top of your door you'd be fine. plus, if you're trying to keep it stealth (which i assume you are with the airtight room and whatnot) then you'll need something to cover up the odor. i used the diy zen carbon filter on riu. not only will it (i hope) get rid of all the smell, but the black pantyhose also prevents light leaks through the fan. so i'd say if you put a passive intake at the bottom of one side of your room and the pc fan at the top of the other side of your room, the cold air will be pulled in from the bottom on one side, get pulled up through your plants and the rest of the room and have the hot air exhausted out the other side at the top. that should do just fine.
