City Cops exchanging tickets for consent to search

My friend has been pulled over twice in past couple months(I forget what for, something small like a tail light out) and both times the officer has offered to withdraw the ticket and give him a warning if he gave consent to search the car.

I can't pin point what it is but something make me feel that this is wrong or a trick.
If, like my friend, I had nothing in the car for sure I would be happy to do this. I'm just wondering what this is because I have never heard of it before.
Consent to search already has enough grey areas it seems this could just add to that

Has anyone else had this happen?

Of course it's a trick. Never consent to a search. Even if you are clean. Take the ticket and politely tell the cop "No thank you officer. I broke the law and I will gladly pay the penalty. And no you can't have permission to search." :bigjoint:

Having nothing in your vehicle does NOT guarantee that they won't find anything. Think about it. The choice is really, "pay this ticket or let me find something that may accidentally fall out of my uniform". The house always wins.

i hope that's not a used car.

my buddy, who has a script, dropped an oxycotin in my truck on a roadtrip recently. schedule 1 drug. we can't find it. if i get pulled over and a cop finds it, ....


so i've been thru the whole cab several times. i could swear i looked everywhere. i set a doobie down on the center console the other day. it rolled off. while i was looking for it i kept in mind to look for that oxy. i didn't find the oxy, but i did find the doobie and a drivers license from the previous owner.

It is actually against the law. They cannot use the ticket to give them leverage. In-fact it is protocol to issue the ticket - then ask for consent to search (to which your reply should always be "am I free to go").

This protocol makes sure the results of the search stand up in court.

Cops can lie to you right quick. Just because they say they'll give you a warning doesn't mean they will or have to. In any case, if you aren't ridding "dirty" I say just let the fucker search your car. Cops around my area will hold you up for hours till they get a warrant or just screw with you for hours with no intent on getting one.

Never consent to a search. There are plenty of cops out there that would plant evidence just to ruin your day.

I bet there are a million pigs DYING to bust you, I bet over 1,000 of your profile views were pigs, I bet you don't use a proxy either as you are legit, if I was you I would not have posted that but I guess nothing will come of it!

Or you could just make sure there is no reason to stop you and be a total dick about it like me.

i just spent 20 mins digging under my passenger seat. my truck was pretty much clean to begin with. i can't find anything. hopefully it fell out when he opened his door.

Outcomes from allowing a search:

Worst Case: Officer plants drugs or finds stuff from friends/previous owners
Best Case: Your car gets totally trashed as the officer opens and dumps out and roots through every single item in your car

Seems pretty lose lose to me....

you know your my boy and all fdd but oxycodone is a class 2 controlled substance in the usa because it has legit medical usuage. and weed is calss 1!!!! wtf world we live in??

i've been pulled over similar to this actually.
except he didn't offer me none of what your friend was offered.

i was driving and was on the left turn lane. the light was red so a stopped. i see this cop driving in the opposite direction.
we both make eye contact and both mean muggin each other.

the next thing i know the fucker turns immediately to his right by some store as my light turns green. at this point i already know the pic was gonna pull me over.
i go into some ally to get to some apartments and as soon as i start getting into the apartments its that same swine who i was mean muggin.

he asks for my license and insurance and says im okay. hands me my license and asks me if by any chacne its fine if he searches my car so im like wtf, note i was giving a possession ticke a month previous to this, so i ask him what the reason for pulling me over and says my license plate light was out.

so i tell him my car doesn't even have one haha (honda, and yes im mexican haha) so he gets even more pissed. but i say you know what yeah youcan search me. im clean.

he ends up calling 2 more cop cars and makes a big deal out of it.

at his point im pissed cause hes asking my friends gf questions and shit like we actually done something. so i ask what searching me has to do with the license plate light.

the pig gets pissed cause his cop buddies make fun of him for pulling me over hahaha
and lets me go.

i thought i'd just share this experience hah xD

ITS A TRAP!

A couple summers ago my friend was driving me around, we blazed in the car but had the windows down. About 45 minutes later we roll by a cop and didn't think much of it. My friend was going like 5mph over the speed limit. The cop follows us for a while and my friend is freaking out thinking we are going to get pulled over. Sure enough we do. There are 2 cops and the first thing that comes out of his mouth is "Where's the weed at?" My friend starts to panic and im kinda just sitting there. All we had on us at this point was a pipe and like a small nug stashed underneath the seat. The cop goes through the whole deal "license and reg... blah blah blah" while his buddy is like freaking out saying "WE KNOW YOU HAVE WEED." He then tells us "We'll make you a deal if you give us the weed we'll let you go." BIG MISTAKE. My friend reaches down hand the pipe to the cop. The cop asks who's pipe it is, so instinctively I said it was mine because I didnt want my friend to get a DUI. He then makes my friend get out of the car
do a DUI sobriety test, my friend failed. This seemed to be because he was just so nervous not because he was high. The cop doesn't charge me with anything but my friend got his car impounded and got a DUI. When he showed up at court the cop never showed so he never actually got charged with anything. But he did have to pay like 500$ or some shit to get his car out.

Thats a great story, love hearing shit like that. A lot of times I've heard them using the license plate light reason, or making it up, when they have no other reason and want to pull you over.
