There have been several incidences where the entire human population on the planet numbered in the low tens of thousands. Each time, we recovered. Strange given that at best we may spawn 10 individuals per life cycle.

I believe that so long as there remain any larger sized mammals on the planet, we as well will survive.

But I am certain that our global civilization will inevitably and soon, be erased from the planet and the memories of homo sapiens

I know of only one: the “mitochondrial Eve” bottleneck after the Toba supervolcano. Do you have links to confirmed others?

Didn't know where to post this or if someone already has. There's been a lot of politics involved in the process which has been years in the making. I've been following it for years. I'm sure happy to see it finally happening. It's a small event in the overall scheme of things but with climate change and global warming, environmental changes like removing dams will have a positive impact on native species. A free flowing river is going to be a better environment than stagnant pools behind a dam for the magnificent salmon who's survival in under extreme threat due to man.

I know some will say the only reason the dams are being removed is because they're not profitable. There is truth to that but all that really matters is that they're being removed. The salmon don't care about profits or losses. They just want a river and streams to spawn in.

"the largest dam removal and river restoration project in the world"

The removal of dams on the Rogue river have been very successful.

.

I believe it was around 150,000 years ago during the Marine Isotope Stage 6 period.

And no, I did not dredge this up from memory. I just recall that I read that there was more than one and one of them occurred during an ice age.

Now you made me google stuff. I half-remembered that our modern species is 100 thousand years old. Turns out it’s twice that by current consensus, which works with your event age. Can’t find the earlier event, but lately I’ve noticed the search engine not giving me hits on stuff that should be there.

(edit) thanks for the link!

You sound like my wife when it comes to cars. She hates to drive my camry because it's too long. She has both the c class and regular Prius. The c class is too small, but you may like the regular Prius. It does all the things you need.
the prius comes in a hatchback?

either way, they totaled the fucking car , thankfully as far as i know the kids are okay, ive heard of some news reports where teens are dying over this challenging by crashing the cars/accidents

it sucks cause i bought it prior to this whole tik tok challenge, and was under the impression i was safe from it, but i still did things to protect myself and int he end they gotme at 2pm downtown in under 2 mins

yeah sadly the price mark up on that is way above the 25k here at least
Some states like CA offer rebates and the price is below 20K in some places, depending on policy. It is an example of what is available and could be suited to many people`s needs since most don`t drive long distances anyway, just around town and such and 260 miles range is plenty. The great thing about the smaller EVs, is you can charge them fully overnight at home and they don`t need a ton of power like an EV SUV or Hummer!
