Clone help :-/

background info:

1) my clones are on day 8.
2) are sitting under a t5 flouro light setup about 1 foot from the clones
3) get heavily misted at 3-6 times a day (lately I just been doing it 3 times a day)
4) are in a humidity dome
5) temp in my clone area is in high 77-85 degrees
6) used clonex gel for root hormone
7) zero nutes used
8.) are put in small "sure to grow" cubes. (the best way to describe them is cottony rockwool)
9) just enough water on the tray to just touch the bottom of the cubes
10) all water used on clones has been distilled water

The problem:
the top leaves and growth shoots of some of my clones are starting to yellow (some are yellow some are really light green). Im concerned because I have read that the lower leaves (not the higher ones) should yellow first. The lower leaves are still green.

I think my clones are dieing and I dont see any roots yet.
please advise ASAP :(

Raise your lights, too bright on the leafs. Check and make sure that the cubes are not soaked.
thanks for reply

how high should the t5 flouro lights be I thought the flouro light cant really penetrate the humidity dome? also the guides i have read say that the flouros should be about 6 inches from clones and mine are 1 foot. You are saying exact opposite of the guides now... haha... im confused... but then again you have over 5k posts i hope you know what you are talking about. Im moving the lights now.

my cubes are kinda soaked (bottoms are soaked cause they are sitting in water but middle and top of grow medium are only damp)... dumping all water from tray now as well.

any other advice would be greatly appreciated.

you need some kind of root juice like clonex, also remember alot depends on how you cut your stem. since the plant can't absorb any nutes from root zone you somehow have to keep them fed. I would look into rooting solutions

I started my first grow off one book~ Indoor/Outdoor Medical Marijuana Bible, Jorge Cervantes. So I have mad respect for the knowledge written, but if you do something outside of the books and you see improvement, go with it. Lights are bleaching your leafs.
See if there is roots.
Make sure yu plugs stay moist, not wet (mold)
Give 70% air.

i agree with too much light---i use the bible to grow---I found that the leaves that yellow are from too brite of lite. I think if you heat the bottom of your plugs or put on a heat mat---target had a cloner for like 45 bucks now online and in store and the bottom or root area is best if a couple of degrees warmer then ambient temp.
Roots will come with no food too. but best to foliage feed till they take, but if you feed and water too much they don't bother to hurry to root when they got you for a "cabana boy" too feed and water them.

Yeah True that on the too much water no hurry on roots. That is why the dome needs opened, keep humidity down and force roots. The heat pad can be bought at any pet store or nursery (seed mat).

yes clones don't need alot of light to root, but if your using flo's then i wouldn't worry about light bleaching you ladies. also make sure you trim the ends of the fan leaves off so the cutting can transpire water, i usually foliar feed with my clonex solution about once a week to feed them since there is no roots yet and with no roots, no food can get to your plants. that is prolly why your getting yellowing

If you don't worry about light bleaching you will get yellow leafs on top, like described on his clones, which gives a slower grow.

Ever notice that on a 7-9 week flowering lady that the buds that are in the middle of the plant, smell better and tend to have more trichs that the buds close's to the light.

ya but he might be getting the yellowing from the plants lack of food, not saying that you should keep you lights real close cause you don't need to ( i keep mine at least a foot away) but you also have to remember that the plant is not uptaking any nutes so he will get yellowing. Not saying your wrong in any way, just never seen a leaves get bleached from flo's

I feel yeah, but he did use a clone gel, that is full of hormones and plenty to keep un rooted clones happy ( ever smear your meristem with clone gel?,DON'T) Leafs can get light bleached from flo's. I have been useing them for over 2 years, and I keep lights about 12-15" away until they are really good and healthy. Pics below are from 4' 8 bulb HOT5s
Respect every time.

ya but rooting gel has no nutrient value to it, it only promotes faster rooting i think...not a hundred percent sure on this. Will have to do a little research... He should try both, back the lights off and water with some kind of rooting solution. Here is my setup

I agree. After 10 days it should have rooted, and moved on into containers. There is nutes for clones, right?
That is some set up. What strain? Are those T-8s?
