Cloners: how often do you pH? Nutrients or no? Success rates, tricks & tips.

Using a 150-site cloner. Nowhere near filling it all up, but planning ahead.

As the title suggests, I have questions for experienced cloners. My success rate hasn't really improved over just sticking cuttings in wet rockwool cubes.

I've been checking pH and ppm every ~24 hrs but plan to check pH twice daily (~6AM and ~5pm). Experiencing some lockout, but I slept in, had the cover on (it's already humid here), and filled the reservoir with too much water. I always dip cuttings in Clonex. And recently, I started a round of clones feeding them 350ppm of my seedling/clone nutrients.

What's your approach and success rate? And how many weeks does it take for you to see roots?

Please tell me everything from cutting selections to pH monitoring frequency and anything else I should know.

Thanks.

There are some informative threads on here about using a cloner. An aeroponic cloner will let you know whether the mother is truly healthy. And I need to wait to take cuttings until the branches to be cut thicken up, not just get ~7" long.

Sterility is key. I add 3ppm residual chlorine with regular unscented bleach with a dash of bloom nutrients. 1 drop 5% sodium hypochlorite to 1 liters of water gives you 3ppm residual chlorine.

I set the clones in the bubbler in the corner of the room with ambient light and forget about it. 7-14 days later all have developed roots.

Here's the chlorine dilution calculator to be used with regular unscented bleach:

Cheers!
