Clones and Growing Mediums

Hey guys so I plan on buying a clone from someone local to me, and I was wondering about transplanting. So he told me he uses Pro mix, and I don't know if I need to buy pro mix to plant with or if I can transfer into a medium of my choice. He hasn't given anything nutrient wise besides root stimulants. So that means I'm free to choose my nutrient of choice right? I've never grown from a clone let alone buy a plant started from someone else. I'm on the fence with it, but it's not much money so I don't have much to lose.

You have bugs and PM to gain. Suggest really quarantining anything that’s a living plant coming in. Plant it in whatever medium you choose. It will be fine.

Pro mix has no nutrient base so you'll have to be responsible for feeding.

I have, along with many others, burned the absolute shit out of clones/seedlings by putting them in rich soil. Personally, Roots Organic Original. Supposedly FFOF will roast little ones as well. I have no experience with Promix because of the minimum amount I needed to buy when I asked the local grow shop. However, any seedling mix should work as well as coco or whatever medium so long as it isn't full of nutrients like RO Original, FFOF or supersoil.
I'm pretty new to growing but have grown from seed, clone in rockwool, clone in peat, and clone from a cloner. Hot soil is the enemy, that's the appeal of Promix. Get something as close to nutrient-free as possible if you can, otherwise you'll stunt an possibly kill your clone. Hope this makes sense. You mention this is your fist time with a clone, what did you put seeds in? Good chance that's fine.

I'm using a coco mix with dry amendments right now and seeing my luck.. My first run was with cheap potting mix and ff trio liquid nutes. The guy that cut the clones says they are ready to be transplanted, and have made a substantial amount of roots. So could I drop it into a pre amended coco?
