I've always used this blend. I'm not sure what you mean when you say too hot, too fast. I've found roots organic og is hotter than 707 so I made a mix of 4 to 1, added some ewc and perlite. The coir is at only a half part which in this case is half a pitcher compared to 5 full pitchers of soil so I don't think it's the coir which has been washed and has sat for months after the wash.
I tried planting a clone in just 707 and it still is looking the same which I didn't expect at all since my environment hasn't changed too much.
I found fox farm ocean forest to be around the same level of hotness as the roots organic original, that's why in only use 1 part.
I'm open to changing my soil mix, just because I've been doing it the same so long now (a few years) and don't really know why in only by I settled on using 707 instead of a different base.
For the record in that mix I have used ocean forest and tried happy frog and the 707 was best to me so I think that's why I settled on it, and it did work for a long time.
Anyone have any ideas about ewc? Mine have been sitting awhile, anyone know if that could have anything to do with it? I personally don't think so but hey, ya never know... its to the point where I'm just baffled. I don't know how a mix can work for a long time, with the same environment and just stop all of a sudden...I obviously have to be missing something here.
Oh and also I saw someone say 30% is too low. This is true but 30 does work. Many people live in very dry states and it still works out. For years I never used any humidifiers or domes. Just a hydro cloner and never worried about RH and had a very high success rate.
Now it seems that snytjing I try...dome...misting w h20...foliar w low level nutes...hydro cloner...rapid rooters...clone straight to rapid rooter straight to solo...and probably more that I can't think of right now...same results
Also for the record I never feed my plants on veg. They go from cloner to solo or 1 gal and then to a 5 gal and that's where they live the rest of their lives. All in a month so when the 1 gal runs out, transplanted. Teas are given in flower.
Sorry for rambling!!!! I write novels at times.
I'll post a pic when I go tomorrow of how they have progressed. Thanks guys!
