Clones not rooting

Do the cuts that I am putting in just a glass of water have to be by a window with natural light or can I put it next to my veg tent under a t-5 light that is on and 18/6 schedule?

For under $100us,you just can't beat the cost & ease of aero cloners.
I'v used this one for about 10yrs, same unit/pump, DIY'd lid, changed out misters as needed, extras come with unit.

Clone King: https://harriganshydroponicsandsupply.com
or amazon.

I made a DIY aero cloner years ago. It worked great but as far as ease it's far from the easiest method. Dealing with pumps, water, etc... Now I just clone in small 2.5" x 2.5" x 3.5" containers of coco. I just took some clones less than a week ago. All I did was cut a few, dip in honey, then into the coco. One already has a root tip showing at one of the drain holes in the bottom of the small nursery pot. These are a sativa called Old Timers Haze. I wasn't going to clone but the plant is from seeds I made using plants I chose for their faster flowering properties. I'm going to self one and use the pollen to dust another one and make feminized seeds. This strain is only available in regular seeds and I have friends that want to grow it but only want feminized seeds.

Anyway, the coco/honey method is extremely easy. I used a dome this time since I cut the clones in the middle of a hot day and they were somewhat wilted when I got around to putting them into coco. They bounced back just fine. I have been reading about honey and known about its use for awhile but I'm amazed at how well it works. I'm sold. And since I always have honey in the cupboard I won't be buying rooting products anymore. Six days after cutting, showing roots, and looking healthy.

Roots after 3 weeks, just got 1 of 4 like that another showing roots and 2 with nothing. The 2 that rooted are ones with bigger stems.
I used to have an og kush, took 3-4 weeks to root every time where other strains took 5-10 days. It was just a bitch to root but it got there in the end and was worth keeping.
Some plants just don't like to make it easy. Lets hope it proves worthy.

Same here, regular clone starting mix with honey. Very simple and i cant tell the difference in honey and any other rooting helpers. 6-7 days seeing roots , thats always a stiffy

Will try this next time to compare results with same strain

Had clones in a bubble cloner for a week and they ain’t showing any roots, using bottle water @ 20c, half are in the water and half just above, 18/6 cfl light, Wilson root stimulator, anyone have any suggestions?
It's too soon to worry. Roots after just a week are a bonus; two weeks is more the norm. I've even had some strains take 3 weeks or more (curse you, black cherry soda!). Everybody has their own favorite way of making clones; yours sounds as good as any. The only think I might do differently is use a little bit of peroxide - I usually use a 1% solution. Some people think it inhibits root development, but I haven't seen that in my experience. Roots like oxygen, and it keeps the slime down.

Don't trip, give them time. These people aren't you.
Don't know why but my cloner is slower than hell too.
Take a week or so to see something....but the should look like they are swelling up and callasing soon. Another week should blow up.
As long as they don't feel slimey and not going soft you should be fine. Just wait a little more.

I've been cloning for about 2 years and I am super lazy when I do it. I've only ever lost 2 cuttings (made about 120 clones, perhaps more).

I:
- ph my water to 6.0(doin it right)
- don't add anything but tap water(lazy)
- never change the water(lazy)
- use a shop light from Home Depot ($40) about 18"-20" away(cheap)
- fish bubbler to ensure bubbles are popping across the entire water surface(doin it right)
- leave it and don't even think to look at them for 2 weeks(lazy)

Usually by 2 weeks I got a few roots jetting out and the entire stem that is inside the cloner has little white root buds forming.

Give it 3-4 weeks (I change the water sometimes) and my entire res is full of roots.

Don't rush it, don't over do shit, they will root.
I totally agree with you. I think this is where we all end up if we relax a little and don't get into " my clone flowered in a day" arguments.
My little things I do different is add KLN rooting hormone to help a little, and I do give them their food. It's my evolution of lazy.
When those roots are hanging down finally,I want them to get a little feeding and stay super green.
When I pull them they get water.
That next feeding that are ready for full nutes till I stop feeding in flower.
I have a lazy mans, best damn perfect grow formula that works entire grow, for any plant, and it's the best weed I ever smoked.

Im going to disagree on the ph thing.. I just recently did some cuts and the only thing that I noticed was I had a ph drop from 6.0 to 4.5 for some reason, adjusted it up. A few days later it dropped again. some plants had rooted but I lost the whole bunch. I can only point at the ph as the reason.

I run a chiller use a grow cfl bulb been doing the same thing for a long time now. ph killed my junk.

no root no uptake in the normal sense but they are absorbing the water, thats is how they stay turgid and dont wilt and die
I ph once . If I refill I ph. Only 1 to no refills. So ph once or twice then leave.
Anyway you do and don’t need to ph. The perfect answer would be more like plants only need to be PhD when they have roots.
As the ph is in the spectrum the roots can eat.
That’s said you don’t need to ph till they drink from the roots.

I've had six beers (seven beers), so beligerance is to be expected, and accepted henceforth.

It fuckin baffles me, how something so simple as cloning, can cause so many "issues" with growers....
F'n take a g'd knife, cut a f'n piece off, stick it in something wet(ish) and quit F'n with it....:wall:
Yeah you might lose one here and there, but JFC this is not f'n rocket surgery!!!!
Out of pure spite, I'm going to cut a piece and root it in wet cigarette butts....non pH'd tap water....

:spew:

I dont know when they start drinking from the roots so I ph before.
