Clones rooted, now what??

So I cut some clones for the first time and lucky me 6 of my 12 have major rooting and the others are just poping visible roots. My question is if my flower room wont be available till harvest is done what do I rock the clones out in in the meanwhile?

what are they in now? what are they transplanting into when they go into the flower room and do you want them to get much bigger before they go into the flower room?

They are in RapidRooter blocks, 4 each in a 4x4inch clear plastic water gal. They'll be transplanted into hydroton in 6" square potsj. Size wise I hope to flower my plants at 18-20". Problem is I wanna go perpetual and only have two grow areas, the clone cab is a 4 drawer 3ft tall 17inch deep and 27inch wide clothes chest with a single 2ft GenHydroponics jump start light and I dont know if that light will keep them going once they get bigger.

well.. the main thing right now is that keep the roots covered from light so they won't be damaged. if i were you, i would try to rig up a little hempy container for them or something. maybe get a party cup or small container for each plant that is solid colored and won't allow light through. punch a small hole in it about an inch from the bottom of the cup, fill the cup with your hydroton, and transplant each clone into the cup/small container. once it's transplanted into the cup or containter you can water it with your nutrient solution at about 300 ppm every day or two until water comes out the hole in the bottom of your cup. If you arent familiar with a hempy style container, it's just basically a form of passive hydro ( your hole an inch from the bottom of the cup turns the bottom into a mini reservoir, when you water just make sure most of your old solution comes out the hole and is replaced with the new solution, and your clones will have plenty to drink if they need it!). it should work out great until you can get them into their netpots and when it comes time to transplant it won't be messy because you will be able to just drop em in and add more hydroton to your net pots. When i clone i actually use nothing but a party cup and perlite with this method. i cut my clone and put it directly into perlite and then water it every day for the first few days and then once every two days. works like a charm so it should hopefully work for you just as well. hope this helps you and good luck!

To get ur clones did u cut a leaf off an then put it in the rapid roots blocks wit some of that clone gel stuff.... Cause im a lil confused of how the clonin process is

Zues, you have to cut a growth shoot/tip off your plant, not just a leaf. There has to be a meristem on it somewhere so that it will keep producing new plant tissue.

From what I was told, you take one of the lowest branches thats got a good amt of leaves on it already and cut at an angle and immediately drop into PH'd water, than once youve got the clones u want you cut slits into the stems bottoms while still submerged and then dip in clone solution of ur choice (I used gel as it was the most recommended) and voilla, uve just cloned. Then as Slomoking says the hard part comes, wait for roots to start showing. Mine took more than the avg. but I now have 9 of 12 rooted! Good Luck, happy farming.

haha.. i love that dog man, couldn't ask for a better one. had him since i was a teenager, he's older now but he tore it up in his day!

So the clones have all been put into 20 oz cups with hydroton and all roots have grown down to the bottom where water sits. Will a 2,000 lumen 6500k be enough to grow them about 1ft? Ohh yeah theres 8 of them with a grow area of 14"deepx27"wide

is it the best.. no. will it work.. yeah (keep the light close).. if you could get a lamp cord and throw a couple more cfls in the mix, you could make them grow quicker and get more bushy

Actually when I had first setup this small cab I used 8 cfls and they took up so much space and got so hot I couldnt put them close and my plants died off. How many more of these thin jumpstart lights would suffice? I was thinking one infront and one behind as opposed to all ontop.

well.. i think the ideal range for beginning veg is right around 2500 lumens per square foot.. your tray is roughly 2 square feet ( a little more but just rounding for the sake of time). so doubling what you have now should be ideal. i have the same light you do btw, i use it for cloning but i veg under a 400w mh

Ya I have a MH bulb too but Im trying to make this lil cab good for clone/vegging so I can keep the HPS going all the time cause the MH is way way waaayyy too hot for my growing arrangments.

yeah, i wouldnt use any hid in a grow cab.. im sure you could get away with something small but at that point it might just be more efficient to use cfl. check this out.. http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/feliz-125w-6500k-mogul-base-compact-fluorescent-grow-lamp-p-2005.html you outta just put one of those in the cab. you can get a lot of different sizes and im sure it would be plenty for your cab

Does that cfl have better light distribution than the longer jumpstart? And space wise with the reflector/base wont the cfl be bigger?

how big is your grow cab? that cfl definately is going to have better light distribution than the jump start, especially in a smaller space...just simply because it has 3 times as many lumens and is in the same cab. it would be ideal if you could hang that cfl vertically from the top of the cab. if you don't have the room to do that then you could try to find something that just holds multiple t5 tubes and is also 2 ft like the jump start. http://www.plantlightinghydroponics.com/sun-blaze-96w-6500k-8000-lumens-2ft-t5-fluorescent-grow-light-p-2139.html something like that will give you more vertical height to deal with and give you the lumens per square foot that is ideal for vegging

tough call.. you could probably get away with hanging that 125 cfl vertical but it wont really leave you with the versatility to go any bigger in the future if it becomes necessary. i would just go with a t5 fixture.. you can make your own cheaper than the 100 dollar one i showed you if you bought the fixtures at the harware store and got the bulbs online or found them at the harware store too. i would try to aim for 7500-10000 lumens which will probably be 3 or 4 2 ft t5 bulbs
