Clones struggling, need suggestions

Hello there, I'm having trouble getting this grow going. I believe this strain doesn't really like cloning, because they refuse for some reason to begin growing the plant mass above the ground, for this age it seems weird to me (they have been under 24h light in cloner for about 12 days before transplant), even when they still forming new and healthy roots under the ground. At first, I thought this was a light issue, few days later without any visual change, I thought they were not fed enough. This is not my first time doing this, and they (different strains) never acted like that. For now, I'm trying to nurse them by keeping it wet around them, and they are getting foliar feed before sleep time (Remo Velokelp). My question is, since they don't seem dead, will this batch recover or it's a failure, and for what probable reason? Thank you.

I'm using full Advanced Nutrients formulla.

Hi welcome, if your environment is good i think they'll be fine with a bit time, that one you showed below you can see its about to put out new roots, see the white warts?

Some of the clones look like the stem have rotted on them, it might be the pics but there's some suspect coloured ones?

Oh yeah, clones from this strain in the cloner have about 50% success in surviving, for some reason, sometimes the stem just rots out, becomes all mushy and the clone dies, I thought the water temp was too high, and it helped a little to cool it, but they seem still very fragile, definitely most demanding plant I grow so far. However, once it is rooted it seems like the rest in the tent, no work above, but still producing new roots. I will give them more time like u suggested, but hopefully, they start growing above the ground soon as well. Thank you.

You could try a different cloning method to see if that helps increase the overall success rate. Plugs, rooting gel, and a seedling dome.
Make sure you sterile your blade.

You might have better luck adding a cycle timer to control the pump, so it only sprays for about 1 minute, and then shuts off for 3-4 minutes. Not only will it give better air to water ratio when misting the stems, but cut down on the heat that is generated by running it 24/7.


Or, just add a few longer air stone bars, and use an air pump instead. Pull out the pump and spray manifold and convert it over to a bubble cloner, which will mist the roots perfectly as the bubbles pop, but without heating up the res as much.

Then you can get rid of that glass food jar (full of ice?) that might be harboring pathogens imbedded in the lids seal or old label..

Try running straight water, with a few PPM of bleach or calcium hypochlorite to maintain a sterile res. Change the water more often.

Foam collars really are the best way for cloning hydro cuttings IMO, but they definitely need to be cleaned properly between each use, or you can keep reinfecting new cuttings. I'd dunk them in bleach water, and scrub good with a paint brush. Sucks when they split though, but then its even easier to keep clean

Thanks but I have no real issue with cloning in the Cloner, I do all that, but that plant seems just weird in comparison to others I did. Very demanding and fragile. However, the point of this topic is to help the plants in the tent (the rooted "established" clones). I just showed the cloner as a context of their previous days' living conditions, since being cut of the mom plant. I put more branches in, just in case this will fail, so I have ready some new ones, otherwise, if it does better, they will be discarded anyway.

btw yes, that jar is full of water, it's sterile from the dishwasher and think the freezer killed the rest if there was something. I used this cooling method before, especially in the summertime, and had a 90%+ success rate. This plant is just not reacting as I expect so that's kinda why I'm here

Hello there, in case anyone has similar issues, I figured out the problem. It was the light spectrum for clones. I bought a new light for them and tried to put new clones in, just to see what it do. Thank you for trying to help me. Good luck with your runs, guys.
