Cloning from Fan Leaves

I grow in coco. do you think that would be ok. I've been growing for some time but always looking for new ideas. Thanks for not letting those guys ruin it for the rest of us.

I dont see why not, its just that with potting compost you can almost press the veins into it and they stay put- with weights on them of course!

It sure sounds like it will work. Once those cells get the hormones I bet they start to root. The veins and stems are not that physically different.

Continual starting stock? or from a mother in its own space?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,so this way must get slowing growth an lessening yield etc.etc.etc......TOO?

If not why not so??????

This would be cool to do if you had the time to let them root I think. You could clone plants you're already vegging without hindering their growth... you wouldn't need mothers at all because you clone a fan leaf or two off all 10 plants in your room, get them to veg, throw your plants that were vegging into flower, and then clone these clones... idk, sorry, stoned and had to ramble that to myself for it to make sense in my head....

im not sure if this was posted or not....... this question is mainly to woo, but anyone can comment.

if you clone a fan leaf, there is no need to wait for it to revert back to vegg if the plant was flowering?

this method could potentially be a quicker way to clone if your at the latter stages of flowering and need to clone????

apparently when you revert a plant from flowering back to vegg, your reverted plant may lose some of its genetics. also, it may weaken the good attributed genetics that the original plant offers.

does this apply if you were to take a fan leaf off of a plant in ...... idk, say 6 weeks of flowering?

also, how big does your fan leaf have to be in order to clone it? if it doesnt matter, what is the recommended size? your approximate guess......

Cut the selected fan leaf from a healthy plant with as short a petiole(stem) as possible; just long enough to remain in contact with the growing medium. With your scalpel very carefully cut half way through the veins of the seperate blades on the underside of the leaf(you can dip your scalpel in rooting gel beforehand if you wish) and rub rooting gel into the wounds. Place the leaf ( stem in medium) flat on the growing medium and devise a way of making sure the leaf veins remain in contact with the medium without blocking the shoots from emerging from the 'cut sites'.Keep in heated propagor at 70f and mist daily. I use Cfls on 20/4 as I have found they are happier with a rest(arent we all!) This method creates five shoots from each leaf which in purists terms are actually five seperate plants; but can be trained as one. If you grow hydro then make sure you fill the end of one leg of a pair of womens tights with the compost(to make a large jiffy pellet almost) which can be transfered into expanded clay at a later date then the compost eventually washes away with the flushing cycles( I use Flood and drain). The rooting will take up to 2 weeks, so you need patience.

Thanks for the info. I'm a little confused how to cut the veins, do you mean just cut the vein in each invididual blade down to the underside of the leaf or do you cut through the leaf itself?

That is considering that the vein on the underside of the leaf is a bump out, so you just cut through the bump, or all the way through?

I'll try it tomorrow, my cab is in it's darkness at the moment.

Hmmm I think I know what you want to know now - I dont keep any dedicated mother plants, I just clone off clones continually and after rooting them they all go stright into flower. I have however just started a new grow from seed which I am quite excited about,the new Marijuana seed .NL strain THC Bomb a massive yielding 20%THC Indica dominant beauty. I have 5 just gone into flower a few days back and they are producing purple and yellow pistils!!

The bigger and healthier the better as its easier to cut accurately through a thick prominant vein than any other.
