I MIGHT even be able to get away with leaving the rasp. coughs and the autos in their solo cups until the soil's ready, as I have pretty cold temps this time of year and they're growing fairly slow as a result. This actually works to my benefit for once, heh.

It's time to start searching my room endlessly for that tiny little 30x loupe I have somewhere guys... :D at least two of my jackberries and the herijuana look like they're starting to get close... would like to take a look at dem trichomes now... god knows where that thing is, lol.

Found the loupe... did a little lookin' on the front two ladies (too lazy to pull 'em out--will feed tomorrow and check more) and so far I'd say I'm still not there... I see like one or two ambers out of the few places I checked... majority milky but still plenty clear. If I had to call it, I'd say 40/60 clear/milky. I'd say I'm on schedule to finish next week or so... But man, those leaves are on their way out. I might toss a little grow feed in tomorrow just so they don't starve out on me and lose all fan leaves while waiting for finish...

...been reading Teaming With Microbes, very good stuff. The more I read about the way soil REALLY works, the more I wonder how the fuck ANY of these bottled nutrients are of any use what so ever. I am happy to be making the shift to TRUE organics, and will be making a lot of craigslistings in the near future. :)

WORD! In regards to snagging that Teaming With Microbes.
But yeah, the more you read the more you'll understand haha.
Bottle nutes don't do SHIT for the soil...Nada...It's a total different system.
BUT they do what they're meant to, which is feed the plants lol.

It's nice and easy. If I've got as good a soil as I think I do, I should be able to keep green leaves longer into the flowering cycle haha.
We'll see..

I know I beefed the second up, so if this one doesn't cut it, the next will.

& As far as I'm concerned...It just makes since to be growing this way haha. Do everything accordingly and the plants should be weel nourished from start to finish by watering only :joint:

I'll be keepin an eye on your current op to make sure you stay green ;)

I agree, it just makes a lot more sense to have healthy, living soil. I went Earth Juice because I thought I could get away with the middle road... still have healthy soil, but use bottled nutes to provide the fuel for it... honestly, that doesn't seem to have worked out as well as I'd hoped! haha. I'm going to go full soil, because it just seems like a no-brainer...

'n I get what yor'e sayin about how the bottle nutes are meant to feed the plant directly rather than the soil, but I just don't get that much at all, it seems to me from what I'm reading in the book that this is a pretty ineffective method of delivering nutrients to the... uh... DAMN, I don't know my terminology well enough yet. The area immediately surrounding the roots, where the micro-ecology forms... heh. In the book I'm pretty sure it said something about how direct nutes will provide nutrients to this area, but that it's a "passing opportunity" of sorts.. meaning that the goodies do not stay available and mostly wash away as the fluid moves past... ugh, I'm talking out my ass because I don't now this stuff well enough... but when I read it it really made me re-think the whole concept of bottled nutes.

I'll have to try to find the part I'm talkin bout and re-read it... damned PDF files are hard to do that with, lol. I might buy a hard copy.

It's def. not ineffective bro, and I still read that book haha I've been doing so since I got it.
Took me a few times to get some of the concepts, and I still pick new things up when I read it.

But the bottled nutes...The plants consume N-P-K in bottled nutes right away and directly because of it's form...Keep reading you'll pick it up.
The organic nutes become available over time as they're broken down by the microbes in the soil..
Microbes break the organics fertilizers down over time and the nutes get immobilized within them essentially...
When the plant wants or need anything it has it there...If it doesn't want it...It's still there for whenever it does ya know?
The chemicals nutes that aren't absorbed will get wash on i guess...But the organic ferts done easily was away as they are within bacteria and fungi in the soil..

But like I said bro...I'm still reading htat book haha. There shit that I don't get all the way still haha

But your where I've been before and it only gets clearer the more you look at it. When you get a good grip on that one let me know and I'll refer you to another organic gardening book.

Yeah I can see what you're sayin'... I guess the point the author was making may have had to do with the constant availability of nutrients IN soil versus the way you gotta keep feeding over and over with the bottled nutes... somethin like that. LOL. Yeah I gotta read more, that's for sure. Hahaha. I've always been a 'play it by ear' type--I wait til I'm WAAAAY in over my head before I start reaching for help, LOL.

It's all good though, I will get it, just gotta take my time and keep reading!

Edit: And on the upside, getting in over my head always works to some degree. I have successfully pulled about 25 oz. from two grows so far... but I am SUCH a perfectionist, I won't be happy until my plants are perfectly healthy right through. :) And I hope my yields increase as I get there!!

Likewise am I perfectionist haha! I figure a lil TLC should go a long way right?! It has so far I know that.
And yeahh man...Ive never thought twice to learn about soil at any time in my life...Like most of us haha, so just picking up and started it seems so damn foreign, but with time the blurriness clears. I'll be around to help out the bro so hit me up if you don't understand something and I'll try to explain if I understand lol. Takes time tho like with everything....
And 25oz from two grows?! GO HEAD HAHA! Thats wassup! Congrats on that! I'm hoping I hit a half pound outta my big three....Maybe I'll end up with more haha we'll just have to wait and see! I'm doing all I can tho...So i won't feel like I left anything on the table.

We'll get there homie :joint: In a timely fashion

Soil supplies arrive tomorrow... straight fucked up my back today though.. don't even know what happened... mid/upper back went nuts on me... like I got something lodged under my shoulder blades... couldn't do anything but lie on the floor and breathe for like an hour... and could barely breathe, had to breathe consciously or the pain would freeze me right up. Doing better now, but still pretty sore. Seems like I'm getting burps trapped under my ribs for some reason and it's putting a fuck lot of pressure on my back and organs... hope I feel better tomorrow so I can start mixing. I need one of those hand-crank cement mixer barrels.

:( hope you feel better tomorrow....I'd come and mix for ya, but you know how that goes.

Gotta get that gas taken care of somehow, pain when breathing is one of the worst pains EVER.........Sending some good vibes your way ;)

Yeah, it's slowly moving... digestive problems are no new thing for me, but usually it doesn't incapacitate my spinal support muscles! Holy shit, i was literally on the floor, couldn't even reach my arms out to grab my laptop to send a message to my girlfriend downstairs to come up and give me a hand. I ended up yelling for her, and even with her help I could barely move into a lying position... then there was no comfortable position to be in once I was there so I kept rolling around trying different things even though I could barely move, heh.

It's a lot better today, not incapacitating, and I can take deep breaths without pain... but the muscles in that area are still sore; still can't extend my arms certain ways and shit.

Thanks for the well wishes cat. :)

Seriously, I wonder how much a cement mixer costs... gonna look into it for soil mixing... sure would be easier than hand-tilling.. and I could let the soil age in it if I leave it in the sun during the warm months. They're usually black I think.

Edit: Eh... not black actually, and way more heavy duty than I need... and not that big! maybe I can just find one of those tumbling compost barrels instead...

Edit: Nope, compost tumbler isn't what I'm lookin for either... i could hav sworn I've seen something that was like a hand cement mixer (rotating barrel on a crank) but it was just a black plastic barrel... hm...

Welp, can't find anything along the lines of what I ahd in my mind's eye so I might have to DIY it, if I can get an idea of how to build inside fins and what positions they should be in for optimal mixing. (Obviously not NOW, as an alternative to hand mixing, but sometime in the future, haha.)

More Edit: This LOOKS sorta like what I was picturing... except it would rotate like a cement mixer and have internal fins to mix... feel like I could build one with a 55 gal barrel and some ingenuity: http://www.urbangardencenter.com/
