all this comes from watching a video on this thread of someone getting the best growth i've seen with 420nm 3000k
care to share the thread?
the superblue looks supercool (lol)
how much are they?

imo 420 nm slows growth. 460nm blue plus uv works much better

best bulb combo 4 htg agromax 5400k , 4 uvl redsuns.. I did par t5 for over 2 years. tried so many bulb combinations. The best results came from the most simple and cheapest (for the most part) combo. I got sick of bulb replacement.. Now rocking induction /led.

Yes, it is ironic that 420 is not a good spectrum for mm

Today's photo update. Guessing ~ 3 weeks left

I'm trying to supplement the Inda-gro PAR 420 (without pontoons). I'm going to be putting 2 of my 4' 4 bulb T5s in the tent as side lighting. Thats an 8 bulb lineup. And I wanted to incorporate maybe 4-5 zoomed flora suns which will give me some 660 (and some 440--if thats useful to us...) but I wanted to ask about UVB and, hyroot, those red suns. I don't want to do IR because I'm not sure how to wire an extra timer to one switch that controls two bulbs in my fluorogrow evergreens. I'm ok for now without the emerson effect / 730nm deal, since I'll probably be scooping up an IG pontoon in a couple grows, and, as many PAR T5ers are finding now, I'm getting super tired of buying all these damn bulbs!
So,what do yall think of this lineup for this side lighting purposes: ZM FS/ 2700KBLOOM (Spectralux)/ ZM RS 10.0 / ZM FS........bay 2: ZM FS / 6500KGROW (Splx) / ZM FS / ZM FS?

i'm trying not to buy any more bulbs except my UVB bulb, but i'm also open to persuasive attempts

thanks guys,
Be easy,

The UVL Redsuns do not put out IR mostly 630nm red. Inda Gro's put out uv-b and 730nm in the induction bulb. Then a drop at 650nm. The emerson effect is there already... The zoo med flora suns put out uv-b as well. 6500k 's are useless imo. If that's all you have then go with it since you are trying to get away from t5 $$$$

interesting, so instead of buying a uvb, i could just switch out the 6500k for another florasun and the uvb for another florasun and probably be sufficient, no?

yep. The flora sun has 730 and 660 also. So that will produce the emmerson effect too. The florasuns are great bulbs. Just get expensive replacing them at $15 a bulb. Having to not replace a bulb for years is awesome. I have had flora suns last anywhere from a few months to a year...

Could be. Weather here was < 65 during the day and mid 50*s at night for 2 weeks, so they hibernated. Now cranking up again. Day time tent temp last 2 days low-mid 70s

I will pull no top bud before its' time
:bigjoint:

they look like its week 3 maybe 4 .. Those look like they have 5-6 weeks left.

right on thanks man...yeah the price tag really hurts, i only picked these up because drs foster and smith were getting rid of 'em for 10 bucks a pop. That was actually the reason i got back on the search for a better light since thats 50 bones for at most a year to rig out less than half my 12 bulb spots, not to mention the other 7 bulbs that have to go in...even with agromax or spectralux that gets pricey too. so i'm basically good to go...now we wait for the soil to finish cooking, and play with our hot peppers (not a euphemism...charlestons, pasilla bajios, fresnos, and mulato islenos)!
be easy!

well the plan is underway. I think that slow growth isn't something i necessarly don't want. they might slow down and slowly make nugget instead of streatching. with hps i've had problems with them streatching and maturing early after a wonderful vegging. if the plant would slowly take in the redder spectrum and not mature too fast would be great

thnx, now i know why the low yeild, hyroot what do you think of ak47 auto ?

does anyone just simply not turn off their fixture (t5 fixture 24/0) ? i would do auto flowers for this. i figure bulbs break this way

yeah sure, i run 24/0 sometimes to sprout seedlings and drop it back to 20/4 once they emerge, give 'em 2 days of that. then they go 18/6 for the rest of veg.

Hell yeah, as long as you are using quality hot5s, that still have > 75% of their lumen output, AND, that the plant has received proper spectrums during pollination
i know, right ?

Question: do t5's give off enough light energy to make viable seed ?
