I did the first under-the-scrog trim this morning. I'll let the plants stretch a bit and then see what else it needs.
This is the Chemdawg OG x Rug Burn OG, and I planted it off center in its bin because the BB#3 is a much wider plant, so its going to get more than 1/2 the tent. Also, the BB#3 is a known quantity, the OGx2 was something I picked up on a whim based on the recommendation of the guy at the dispensary (who I've come to respect).
The Bruce has had a great shape from the day I brought it home, it came with three strong branches right from the base (one is hidden directly behind another in this pic...). I'm really looking forward to seeing how it produces.
The day that I transplanted these, I woke up in the morning, pulled four plants out of the tent, cut them to hang and dry (I do 70-90% of my trim wet, so that was a couple of hours), cleaned the tent, set up the sips for the first time, set up the double scrog, sprayed the girls (all organic) for bugs and fungi, and transplanted them under the scrog. It was a big day. At this point, I don't recall for sure which plant got the SIP with one big wick, and which one go the one with three smaller ones. I suppose it doesn't matter, but that's the kind of thing I'd usually remember.
I also decided to take the covers off to let the soil breath... and because they were really difficult to get in and out. If I decide to cover the soil down the road, I'll use a plastic bag.
Here's a quick pic of my 'nursery' for the summer outdoor grow. I suppose it's off topic, except... they are going under the big COB in the sky, some will be in SIPs outside... but this year I hope not to do any outdoor SCROGs. I did last year and it served its purpose (keeping the plants short, under the 6' fence and therefore legal), but I hope to achieve that with different methods this year.
That's some "mystery" seeds that were our best ones last summer, and some LSD from seeds. On the left are some clones from the plants in this run which are struggling (I think the batch of Happy Frog I have is too hot for them). And the one gallon has a J1 clone I picked up. Some will go in the ground, some in SIPs, two in 15 gallon pots I've dropped into the ground to keep the roots cool. Lots of experiments in the outdoor this year.
If things go as planned we'll be smoking the BB and OGx2 from the tent before the outdoor clones go into flower, so if we love either of them, I'll have the option to take more clones. We don't have that option most of the time, when we find something really good, its usually way past when I could take a clone.
