no doubt, hell I ain't arguing....but I'm finding a 30% perlite mix sorta fool proofs things...basically it makes it so idiots/lazy MF's like me can't possibly over water...

Its pretty hard to overwater Coco once a solid root system has been established

I was impressed with the grow i just finished, so i thought i would put it out there.
I still class myself as a noob and this could be a fluke but this is what worked for me.
Room = 4'L x 3'w x 9'H.
Light = Veg 2 x 600w MH retro, Flo 2 x 600w Philips HPS.
Medium = Mixed 50L Canna Coco, 12L Perlite & 180g Dolomite Lime - Pot = 20L buckets.
Strain = 2 x Unknown Clone - think its Lemon Sativa - deffinatly a 12 week flower strain.
Climate = 28-30c lights on - 22-24c lights off. Humidity never monitored.
Watering = 5Lt nutes everyday & 12Lt FloraKleen water flush once a week.
Nutes = Any A+B base nutes (who cares its additives that count).
Additives = Bud Blood, Shooting Powder, Root Excellorator, Canna PK13-14, Liquid Lead, Cyco Zyme, B52 & Canna Boost. Yes alot but not all at once, lol.
Clones vegged for 3-4 weeks after roots appeared 24/7 light, Flowered for 11 weeks with nutes + 1 week Molases flush.
Final results were an amazing 44oz, 22oz per plant.

Started using a medium to large perlite way less dust and way easyer to work with.
been doing tests on

so far large perlite is killing it

clay pebbles are supposed to rule in coco i think its called chow mix as it looks like dog food

I first started out in coco with a chow mix but i hate cleaning it and its heavy
i feel perlite is much better over all though

Coco or not, that's preference.
I would suggest LST before trying uncle bens. Without topping the plant or cutting off any branches you could have something like the plant below. That's 5 weeks from seed. All I did was bend her over when she was about 5-6 inches tall. Every branch becomes a top. I'm not sure why uncle ben wouldn't just do this...

Super chunky all the way! I say the larger the better. I really like 50-50 mix. I find the more perlite you and the more you water the better! I use a 50-50mix in 3 gal pots, water at least once a day in veg and at least twice a day in flower.
I actually suspect if I went with a 60-40 or even 70-30 super chunky perlite/coco mix in smaller containers and watered more often they would explode

This is bro science to the fullest but...
I think the large perlite or clay pebbles forces the roots to grow around them instead of in the straight line it would have taken if it were in just coco. This adds up to more total root mass in the same amount of area since so many roots path are obstructed and they need to grow around the obstable.

LOL, its quite the opposite, people use additives to give what their incomplete base doesnt have. If your base nutes have the correct npk ratios along with micro nutrients there is no need for additives esp bloom boosters that just end up adding too much PK anyways. We wont go into detail about the others that arent pk boosters you named
So about 1.02GPW with 1200w?
the fact you said "any base nute" then proceeeded to name the most expensive additves(Snake OILS at that) on this land makes me wonder is this post a troll
Not to deviate from the point of the thread im just curious and baffled at that.
Anyways, Im also in coco*with maybe 10% perlite* I actually just started to try it again after a failed attempt in sept. And im doing far better than last time, Im vegging 2 huge big buddha cheese(same pheno) in 3 gallon pots. I will be flipping to flower either on the 11th or the 18th i havent decided.
Here are my questions Ive been in the 3 gallon nursery pot for about 18 days, I know you can stay in coco longer than soil without having to transplant but will going to a 5 gallon be wise if I decide to veg until the 18th? my total veg time right now is 9 weeks(had some issues that set me back)
Also is EC runoff an accurate tool to gauge if you're under feeding for example:
I feed 2x a day with 1.1-1.2 EC(550-600 ppm*.5scale*) and my runoff is usually always half of what i put in when i feed. But at the same time the plants seem just fine maybe even a tittle to deep green as far as foliage is concerned IMO. I've read you want it hit a "sweet spot" of the ec being the same of "what goes in comes out"
Is that true? I personally dont want to go over 1.2 EC esp in veg
I even have slight tip burn so I'm going to back off to 1.0 for a couple of days and see if thats a better maintenance EC
Oh and I have a spider mite problem did the mistake of spraying when lights were on with dishsoap and azamax and twisted my new growth(recovering already though).
Whats an effective way of killing mites and their eggs while also preventing anymore to return. this is my first time ever having mites.
