I know this answer is too late to help now but yes, wet the coco with a light pH'd nutrient solution before planting (most inoculants can and should be applied directly to the roots at this point as well)... Use filtered water to get and keep your beneficials happy.

The MH bulb will be fine... just watch the canopy temps for the first few days. After the first few days of rooting, it would be ideal to use a MH anyhow.

use the rhizo at 15-10 mL per gal. and work your way down...then once you switch to 12/12 cut it down again to to 8ml for the first watering or two , then cut it down to 4ml., and by the time you see the hairs starting to pop you should cut it down to 2ml. per gal.

Cal/mag is something that should be added to your water source before adding your nutes... Canna designs their nutes with the intention of the grower/user having a water source that contains 200 ppm's of usable cal/mag... Most growers/plants need it.

ooops. sorry about that last one. im not an expert user on RIU. mistake from a search. However, I do want to ask about this, as some of my searching is turning up fruitless. :P Do I need to pre-water the coco? (which i was gonna put 2ml/gal of Canna A+B to the water that i would moisten the coco with). Seems counter-intuitive to put the clones straight into dry coco. I know not to flush the coco with reg water like you would when in soil (which is what im moving away from), but when first transplanting clones, do you need to moisten up the coco w/ some pre-treated A+B filtered water (ran through a smallboy actually)?

I am doing my first step into coco now. got the A+B, Rhizo just for now, since my girls are about 10 days old. Unfortunately I've only got a 1Kw Metal halide for them. no floro. i should have the 1K about how far from them?

Just to clarify, so I can minimize mistakes : first 7 days or so after transplanting (from rockwool/grodans), just water+Rhizo, like, 10ml/gal of rhizo right? then move that up to 15ml/gal through first week of bloom - si?

lets talk about Cal/mag - im using tap (ran through smallboy), but thats all i have for the moment - when do I need to introduce cal/mag into the equation? now? later in veg? in bloom only? or the full cycle? I picked up some Magi-Cal. Do i need this, or does Canna make up for it already? I think I've read yes & no on RIU? Please confirm.

Thanks!!

p.s.. I really dig these coco threads. Zen & Jberry rock.

to get hte cal/mag ppm you fill your rez... check the ppm.... and cal/mag ubtil the ppm raises 200 ppm's (usually 3ml per gal. is close to your 200 ppm)

ypu dont need a EC meter if you have a ppm meter... there is a conversion chart for ppm to EC, but you have to know what your meter is calibrated to because there are 3 different calibrations that can be used depending on the type of meter being used... Hannas
are usually calibrated at .5 and the conversions are pretty easy... 500 ppm = 1.0EC ....... 1000 ppm = 2.0 EC, and so on...

duh just noticed the link u added at the bottom... nevermind then, u got it

wait, so after raising the underbrush about what, 9 - 10" off the bottom, you start working your way up week by week from the lowest bud-site/kibble, on up till how far? I was told once that you want like 3 - 4 primary bud sites at the end of the branch, and everything else gone. I get the rational behind it, and think it sounds right, but what is the general consensus on this?

also, I have been reading here where people state, I have 200ppm of Cal/Mg - how are you reading JUST the Cal/Mg property? is this just ratio formula from the bottle label - or am i missing something? I've let my Hanna PH meter sit in not a covered up buffered solution. I flaked cus I keep fergettin' that GH buffer 7.0 sh!t evaporates. anyhoo. I was gonna go get an EC/PPM/PH tranche tomorrow. I have a ppm meter, but no way to see how to calibrate it. The Hanna PH meter works fine - I hope. Will have to check with the buffer I grab tomorrow. But I have no EC meter, and the store doesnt have just a single EC meter. There's a conversion somewhere. I am transplanting my first coco grow and just wanna dial stuff in asap. a lil nervous.

[update - here's that conversion chart. guess i dont need to buy a new wand. http://www.gardenscure.com/420/attachments/hydroponics/181763d1160775312-printable-ec-ppm-cf-conversion-chart-ppm-ec-c.jpg ]

Hey jst tyin to understand.. You want to know what Voltage to run your ballast or what wattage lamp should you use or what light in what rooms ??? Im confused sorry... and depending on the size your veging too. 40 babies in a 12x12 room with 2 1000watt lamps will be fine.. keep em kinda small though . Plants in coco tend to grow big bradda.....I do im doing 9 under a 1000 .. more ligh to plant equals denser bud bradda.. but we also have 25 under 2 1000 watters do in fine and big

I water once a day, 3gal pots, mixture of chips/fine coir with ~10% perlite and my runoff after I water is about 60%. I have heard you want 10-20% so what would be the downfall to how much runoff I have vs what I should have?

The answer is probably in here somewhere :-) So sorry if I missed it. :-)

Firstly, yea I love Coco peat, since I started using it, most of my previous problems with soil growing is gone. So long live the coco palm. :-)

In my experience the people who sell it, know nothing, so it is hard to get good fibery stuff. I find the powder or fine coco does not work well.

My question. Coco peat vs full hydro using (those things you use for hydro :-)

I have always thought the full hyrdo is much quicker and bigger growth than any other medium. How does coco peat compare to full hyrdro. I have stuck to coco peat because i get much less plant problems during a season if any. So I personally would not switch but I was wondering what you think.

I grow hydro with Atami Bcuzz coco and Flora products ....2- 500W CFL and 2- 2x4 40 w florescent
in a 4x4 sunhut. I find coco very easy to work with. These are in 10" pots with 10" coco liners to keep
the roots a little in check without worrying about them turning back on themselves.

this is 3nd week in bloom bt.jpg

Day 47 of flowering. I have seen some close up shots with the 30x magnifying scope, and about 60-70% are cloudy while only 5% are amber. The rest are clear. They are blue cheese from big buddha and they suggest 9 weeks of flowering. My concern is whether or not I should keep on feeding them nutes or start flushing? Any help would be appreciated. Here are some pics by the way. Hope you enjoy

Firstly aagking86, fantastic plants. I have seen a handful of bb blue cheese grows and these by far are the biggest blue cheese colas I have seen. Hell i wouldn't even have recognized this as bc.

Anyways even though they suggest 9 weeks flower, you could very well have ended up with a faster finishing phenotype.

It is really your call, most folks usually start the flush when they spot amber or high percentage of milky, because once the amber starts it comes on quick. If you wanna go that route start the flush now, or at least start tapering down the nute strength.

If you want to take them to 63 days, 9 weeks, then you could probably pull of another week of feeding as coco seems to flush quite nice and fast.

i would not recommend that myself. I would rather use the canna a-b nutes. Not to say that you cant mix-n-match. The couple of times ive tried it didnt work out as well. Not saying it didnt work at all, just not as good as using the same brand of everything. Btw all i use is canna coco. But hey if that is all you have available, and its coco specific try it until you can get ahold of some canna nutes, and then do a side by side with two to four plants to see wich nute is better.hope that helps.

Peace!!!

Yea honestly I think Bio Bizz is way too pricey and you have to use way too much product... It is however good for your beneficial fungi because of its extremely low Phosphorous levels but the low level may be too low for indoor cannabis crops imo. If anything it would be better for veg and early flower but something else may work better for the bloom cycle.

I would personally probably use Roots Organics or General Organics (Vegan) if I was going to use a 100% Organic line...... some other good Organic brands are Cutting Edge Solutions Organics, BioCanna (Vegan), Earth Juice is another popular option.

I know a few pages back you asked about A.N.... Advanced Nutrients and Bio-Bizz are really over rated and over priced if you ask me..... not to say that are bad nutes or that they are the only ones charging too much because all the companies are guilty of it, but imo Biobizz just doesn't produce the results it should for the price and amounts used... A.N. is just a unreliable company that is very deceptive and way over priced. They actually just got caught listing Amino Acids on the label of their "Big Bud" product that weren't actually in the Big Bud! They were in violation for over half the ingredients listed on the label including Mg. and it was the only A.N. product tested so I'm sure they have additional products with false ingredients listed on the labels.

Fyi everyone... I just spoke to a H&G rep inperson and he said every product they make has the wrong/false NPK levels listed on the label and that he didnt even know what the correct ratios were!! It is a mystery as for as what is actually in their products. -Also Roots Excelorater has a low oxygen loving beneficial bacteria in it, meaning that the product works better if you don't oxygenate your water.

Thanks guys for reply! I wanted to go with Bio Bizz coz i heard good opinions bout them and also ive seen few grows with it. I like that they are only focused on bio and i hope it should be good enough. I was thinking bout BioGrow, BioBloom and TopMax. Its pain in the arse that i cannot get General Organics anywhere over here... Anyway there are not many bio grows with coco so its difficult choice. So dat i decided ill go with coco, worm castings and perlit(70%, 20%, 10%). I hope that worm castings will help to break down organic nuts and increase biological life in this mix. Its is not just pure coco then so dat i would need to think about how im gonna feed my ladies and how much run off i should have...

Also I think i will not be able to get calmag+ :/ Would tap water be enough to correct it? Im moving to new house soon so im not sure what ec will have my water but if it had round 0.3 EC would that be enough?

These people are claiming to be the Biobizz experts and also recommend using it with Canna Coco, so if you are set on using biobizz then maybe you should run some of your concerns by them. > http://www.gchydro.com/biobizz.asp?gclid=CN77ybHqoKICFRdSagodNXuQwg

Have you priced/calculated how much product you will be needing? I have used the complete biobizz line a few years ago (but not with coco) and the plants turned out healthy and well but it isnt my favorite and its not worth the cost in my current situation... I'm sure it will work out for you though....-just curious, do you have any other organic brands in your area to chose from?

Yes man i could easily get:

Plant Magic
B.A.C.
BioCanna
Biosevia

I wish i could go with BioCanna but im afraid they could not work too good in coco coz never seen any coco grow with it... Canna didnt even bother to answer me and im not sure if that can manage with coco although im pretty sure it would be great with soil. Its canna... everyone knows it needs to be good...

I havent calculated how much biobizz i need to have coz coco with worm castings its not just coco so feeding needs to be a bit different. Ive read that for coco biobizz says to use nuts like for their lightMix schedule + approx. 40% but because of worm castings i think i will use maximum lightmix schedule + approx 20%(I always prefer to stay on the safe side). Im gonna start from very low dose and work it up. What do u think bout that? I still dont know how much run off i should get... Im afraid that worm castings can retain too much water but tbh its only 30% of the mix so maybe dat doesnt make a difference... Biobizz nuts(Grow, Bloom, TopMax) would cost me round 28 pounds and BioCanna (Grow and Bloom only) around 25... Ive heard dat this organic boost from biocanna is not worth to use it... I believe that during last few years BioBizz improved its products coz competition never sleeps and they needed to do better nuts... hehe I hope so :D anyway thanks for the link u gave me and all help u put into this problem!
