Contrary to what some people on this thread state, you absolutely can overwater coco. Use the light pot method of determining when to water and you'll be golden.

Perhaps I can't overwater because I use air pots? Maybe the varieties I grow?
Maybe I should skip a day of watering and see what it does.

My main point is I would never let coco dry out completely, it is not like soil.

Croutons are a whole different deal, I have no experience with them. I have been meaning to try mixing them in.

You should match pot size so that water everyday. I think your pots are too big. You should water everyday so that air is exchanged. The plant should use enough water everyday to allow for this. You will get better results.
Just my 2 cents bro.

DSC01865.jpgDo you still think they are in too big of a pot? these are pretty large plants... on average these girls are between 4' and 5' wide by 40'' tall. Vegged and trained for 8 weeks. This is the end of 4th week.

Yes. If you can't water everyday because the plant hasn't used that days watering then yes, pots are too big.
Or humidity and temps too low.
youre supposed to give the plants the volume o their leaves in water everyday. If the plants can't transport that much water then too big pots. Rule of thumb.

I got some rooted clones in rapid rooters, are these fine to transplant to coco? I dont see why not but I figured I outta run it by some people who actually use coco. This will be my first time using it. Hows four, three gallon containers under one 400 watt for bloom sound?

When you alternate water/feed, more particularly water, are you adding CalMag, or a weak solution of A&B? I ask because I use RO water.

Currently I'm feeding every time, but am going to try this method. I'm afraid a serious flush looms near, but I don't want to flush out my Mykos, so maybe this will help???

Does anybody have any suggestions? This new plague appears to be a nutrient lockout... I have not dealt with this before. I hate to follow up such lovely nuggets with sickly leaves, my apologies.

I agree LB, I use 5, 7 and 10 gallon pots (mostly fives and 7's) and alternate water one day and feed the next. 1 to 1.5 gallons feed/water depending on pot size, and my plants love it. I went to this regiment after using mostly ten gallon pots.

I do not have ro water yet but have been meaning to add it. note to self-add $300 ro water system. I use botanicare cal mag 5-10ml per gallon, hygrozyme and the 90% of the AN line. I flush once a week or so and shop vac out my runoff

I like those cages, I been meaning to try some of those. you buy that in a roll right? nice plants man!

Sorry, but this is statement is simply not true. I use 5g pots. At the end of the grow, every square inch of coco is densely filled with spiderweb-like roots. I only water every 2-3 days. When I first transplant into 5g pots, I may go 4 days.

There's simply no basis for the statement that your pots are too big if you don't have to water every day.

I have personally experienced stunted growth in coco when I kept it too wet. Have you ever tried watering your plants every other day and seen them stop growing?

I put all my clones in rapid rooters that I then place in a self-watering coco seedling tray. By far the most effective way to clone, IMO.

You can get a GE RO system at Home Depot for $150. I've had one in my kitchen for years and I bought the same one for the grow room.

Yeah 50ft roll those are ten feet all the way around....worked out perfect. Damn Sour Kush spreads so wide tho... its awesome too cause i can tie each bud directly to something.... so simple to maintain.
