Colorado AG says DIY BHO is illegal

Colorado's Attorney General says making BHO at home is illegal. 31 BHO explosions happened in the first five months of 2014 in Colorado.

From my understanding the AG references A64 (rec) when he states that it doesn't allow for home production period. Keep in mind, the uneducated see the closed loop much like a bomb as they fail to grasp how difficult combustion is sans oxygen inside the unit. Wonder if medical has more protection in the law or if that's the same boat.

can't believe this is even an issue! someone in the mix (line) must have some knowledge of this process. just seems strange the law is on this.....

Wonder what the laws say about closed loop extraction of things like rosemary and Rose oil.
Fuck these people, I didn't spend over a grand on a closed loop system just to be told I can't use it.

Outlawing bho production in residential- let alone multi family- settings seems reasonable. It seems just as reasonable to have someplace one can take their product to be blown down, or a certification process reputable operators can follow to offer said service.

Existing fire codes prohibit open butane extraction in a residence. Not sure what more laws will do other than give the DA more negotiating cards to plea bargain with.

Denver published IFC-2009 to cover commercial extraction with flammable hydrocarbons. It allows flammable hydrocarbon extraction, but says:

(2) LPG (Butane/Propane)related extractions

a. A butane extraction process, where gas is released directly to the atmosphere, is strictly prohibited.
b. Butane extraction processes are prohibited in basements, unless and approved hazardous exhaust system is provided. (3) a. adds requirement for sprinklers in basement.
c. Hazardous exhaust must be in operation at all times during extraction, etc
d. Local HC alarms are required.........
e. Extraction equipment shall not be operated near open flame or spark producing appliances.

so then what does this hold for the companies that are based out of CO that make closed loop systems, also when asking for extraction tubes now are we going to have to use some special lingo like asking for a "bong" in Texas "no no its a water pipe sir we don't sell bongs."

aggravating, although me being what I am, I do understand there are dumbass people that should carry trees around, and I wouldn't want them blasting next door to me.

Commercial extraction is the key phrase. Also Denver is one city. The fact the state DA says there is no protection for doing such simply says it's ok to make any local ordinance prohibiting said process outside of the regulated, taxed, MIP licensed environment.

There's other oils, from other plants. So products could be marketed as such and not tied to pot.

Then they would make it harder to purchase the tane and not equipment that could be sold as "not intended for use with butane or propane".

Possible unintended consequence, street values go up, incentivizing the market.
