McFonz great job, your ice kush is looking ready and the hairs have turned! So thats good for us growing the same strain lol
My ice kush clone is in the 2nd week of flower and has trichs all over her leaves already yummy
It is FAR from being ready.
Trust me on that, I've pulled plants prematurely before and I've pulled prefectly matured plants before. This one is not ready to go.
hmm most of the hairs on the pic i looked at mcfonz where still whitish looking to me?
also earlier here ya say not to go by trichs but in your journal you state u pulled a plant cause it had amber trichs and was time so im kinda a lil confused man
They are, she isn't ready.
My Sweet Deep Grapefruit was, and she got chopped yesterday.
The Ice Kush is still up and running.
I've harvested by the trichome color only after I got my other factors ready:
*The pods swole greatly and stopped doing so.
*Over 50% of the hairs gone brown and shrivled.
Only then I went to the third factor, which is more of a fine tune,
*With Indica's I want 30-60% amber trichomes, and the rest should be milky. Less than 10% clear.
This one had around 60% amber trichomes, none clear and a few black ones. Rest were milky.
But I've started looking at them only after the pods started to swell and pistils started dying.
@steve6green:
I use a handheld cheap microscope from ebay, up to x100. It has a built-in blue LED and run with 3 watch batteries. (Which I've ordered from china for a friction of the price for a 10-pack)
The built-in LED helps to show the true color of the trichomes. Unless you use it the HPS (or any 2700 kelving light) will make the trichomes look amber just because the light is pretty red.
It was pretty cheap, around 10 bucks but after around 2 years the LED died (and I wasn't using it too much) so I had to replace it.
It eats batteries quickly so have some extra's around.
