There are more cost effective options on page 1 of the discussion
Have you ran the cutter ones?
I’d be interested in DIY some of them together.
I’m interested what kind of distance they should be kept and what kind of coverage they offer.
I’d need two of the Hlg to cover my area properly

I don't know about the DIY ones but the HLG ones are built really solid. You can tell they will last a long time and are passive cooled. I have 2 mounted to my lights (so same distance set as my lights). Each seems to do a 4x4 or 4x5 area and they are 30W. I do not know offhand what diode they use.

Rapid led uses 385-390nm
Hlg uses 385nm and 365nm(decent)
And cutter seems to have 280nm, 310nm, and 365nm

Are uv led very effective yet? I run 4 ft solacure t12 bulbs. 2 per 1000w hps. From what I have read led's are shitty at producing uva and uvb especially. I looked at the migro uvb bulbs to hit just the vr8 receptor, for tricome production, but I went with the solacure bulb that will do that and more. It replicates the uv from the sun. I want to replicate the sun with hps and uva and uvb.
No offense Shane, obviously you are selling t8 bulbs for the same reason, led's suck for uv. I love all your videos and will give you shit tons of credit for leading the way in led info and tech for all us dumb asses! Thanks man

Leds are good at producing UVA and UVB and the technology gets better every year.
They are more expensive than say 3000k-5000k diodes.
They’ve got the uva sectrums for awhile now and have more recently got better prices for uvb diodes.
If your looking to replace a wide spectrum UV spectrum bulb your best bet is the wide spectrum cutter models.
If your crafty you can get those cutter models and somehow incorporate 385-390 for the fullest spectrum available right now

I can only speak for the hlg units I have but for 60 watts (2 units) when I turn all the other lights off and only the UV lights on it's complete blacklight scenario everything's glowing it really spreads far and is quite effective at 4 to 5 ft from the light. it really seems to me like it's quite effective and will last much longer than a t12 bulb.. like forever longer and over time will be much cheaper too.

In addition as I've seen elsewhere mentioned, a usually pm prone environment has 0 pm... And this is why you might run it for a short duration always veg flower whatever.

Does anyone have a protocol for running the solacure bulbs??

Just watching this video listening to the two professors regarding benefits. And running them every other day so the plant doesn't make Uv blocking compounds.

Anyone run their solacure at every other day instead of every day as they recommend I think for the flower power bulbs?

I ran my hlg. Two days on. One off with great results.
As the one professor said in the video, UVa/b will make the plants more rugged and less susceptible to disease and pest. I already know this from my experiments giving it to my plants in veg for 45 minutes a day towards the end of the day in 3x15 minute intervals with about an hour in-between. They are shorter, with less inter-node space as well as seem to branch out a bit more? Also they are way sturdier plants. I grow in rock-wool in hydro and usually the plants are all falling over even though I supplement with potassium silicate. They are way more sturdy now.

As the professors said, pulsing is the key so I will be doing some experimentation with pulsing in 15 minute intervals instead in the next 4 weeks as I approach the last two weeks of my grow. I do believe growing weed indoors is all about experimenting as no one has all the answers yet.

I’ve used Agromax uvb 22inch t5 in an Arcadia fitting at 30inches. Lost them, nature of growing in the U.K. I’m afraid. Never seen a harvest but they deffo add a generous sparkle

I just entered flower and will be running my solarcures for 15 minutes every hour. I think that this is one of those learning what works best for each particular garden situations. I've used california light works fixtures with uv. However, there was no way to cycle them it was done manually.PXL_20210309_010557926.jpg

hey you have more experience with it than me but I think I read on solacure a website that multiple ignition is harder on the bulbs. And so running so intermittent could give you shorter bulb life.

also DR Bruce Bugbee mentions in the video about a study where exposure every other day helps the plant reap the benefits of UV without building the sub blocking compounds.

You're right about the bulb life. I have seen the videos from Dr. Bugbee too. I don't disagree with them. However, As with many growers, sometimes we just want to go our own way. When it comes to marijuana much of Dr. Bugbee's information is anecdotal. As far as bulb life for the Solacure's is concerned they also suggest that bulbs are usually only good for 1-2 grow cycles regardless of how they are used. I my view, half the fun of growing is experimenting and figuring out what works for you.
I respect the experts advice and research. However, it doesn't mean it's gospel or dogma. This is an experiment for me and I'm hoping for good results. If not, I always can revert back to what the experts suggest.
Thanks for pointing out the solacure information and happy, successful growing to you.
