Hey,
Can anyone remind me of the thread where Giggles was suggesting
the Burpee Seed Germ Tray?
I got one and want to report, and thank him again for the tip.
These things are amazing.
I set it up, empty, and watched it for a week.
The moisture level of the peat in each cell is clearly visible by
the color of the mix. It starts off light colored and gets darker
as it moistens. I rushed a cell that seemed to have too much
peat by watering it by hand a tad, and I saw again the dark
brown that too-wet peat makes.
Over the week the cells all got to, and stayed right at, a perfect
moisture level.
This is part of why I got so bean happy a few days ago, as it is
sooooooo freakin' easy with this thing.
I did not comment on it at the time, but the RP Kosher Kush was
a fresh and ready seed. It popped in 1-2 days, and others are
popping up too.
I expect to get all four clones of each mother to health, and will
select the keeper.
Here is the first to arrive, the Kosher Kush:
Here is a view of the popping bean field (only the first two and a half columns have
had beans dropped in them):
...and here are the clones, looking happy (plus one Sensi Jack Herer popping):
I now have the tent on 12/12, as of today's "night". I decided to make "day"
be from 8 PM to 8 AM. This will avoid a lot of the heat that comes in the
next two months where I am. I will never get over 90 if I am lucky, but the
man cave is badly exposed to the fall sun.
I will be placing my large (16") circular fan under the canopy, and will need
to get a new one to hang above the canopy. I have seen on Amazon where some
are sold intending to be hung upside down, and still rotate. (this is what killed
the rotate on the fan that I have right now...I overloaded each rotation by
having it at an angle, and eventually the mechanism failed)
Onward and upward,
JD
P.S. Happy 4th right back atcha J. :0)
