Yeah it shouldn't take long. And honestly, if you're growing in soil you should only be watering every few days anyways. Let her dry out, and she'll stretch her roots looking for water. It might seem slow above the soil, but all the development will be going on below the soil and that will help you out that much more later on.
Just start getting used to feeling the weight; water it, feel how heavy it is, feel it get lighter and lighter every day until its time to water again. Even when the top looks/feels dry, there's still some moisture at the root level.
Trust me, you wanna stop over watering, it slows the shit out of the growth--being in a hurry to get her watered will only make you wind up waiting an extra month or 2 for your harvest down the road.
