Defcom's 2x600w in 4x4 GrowLab, PKxTW cooler DWC medical grow

haha actually i just learned about using paraffin wax from basic botany stuff i've been reading. its used for grafting and such, its kind of a pain to apply the way i do it. literally. things ive read talk about applying it with a brush, so im assuming a small paint brush, well, i dont have one of those. i melt the wax then let it cool down a bit and pour a little into the palm of my hand, thats where its a bit of a pain. i let it cool in one complete sheet til it is pliable and will peel off my hand. then i wrap it around and mold around the affected section. there is a special wax that they make for botany purposes like grafting, but paraffin works fine... i need to get a small paint brush lol...
 
this harvest is already looking a lot better than the last, ive got 10oz already in jars and i still have a 5 gallon bucket full of colas to jar. sometime soon i will take some pictures of the final harvest, minus the pants, and drop the link on my next journal, might be a week before i get it all done. also, gettin some bubble bags here shortly or building a bhoe tube.
 
If you make a BHO extractor...give us a little how too....curious to see the materials you use....everyone is like..."use plastic...no..dont use plastic,use metal...no...not metal...use glass....." Just curious how you're gonna do it.....you seem to be in the know!!
 
haha i have seen some arguments. personally i think as long as the correct plastic is used it wouldnt be a prob, i was planning on following this, until you said glass:

since im pretty handy, i think i will make it out of glass tubing, i will just have to find some half inch that is thick and shatter resistant... if you have seen any good guides for a glass one let me know, but i think i will stick to the 1/2" size... ideas are already forming in my head lmao.

now that i think about it, i wouldnt use plastic or metal, and i guess they have some commercial glass ones available online.. might buy one of those, but i have a patient who is a semi-new glass blower, so i will probably see if he can work me one thats nice...

Nice. Thanks for taking all the time to post your journal. I am about to pull the trigger on a similar setup and found your journal doing a search. I loved it. I was thinking of using only a single 600w. I dont think I can afford the cooling of 2x600w in the summer. We live in the desert. Really interested in final dry weights.
 
I was planning on using glass too....I have a buddy that is a blower and was gonna have him make me one.....If you're not in too big of a hurry I'll see what his price is to make one and see if I can get one your way...he's lazy as fk tho....put in an order for a pipe and it takes about 2-3 weeks till he starts on it....then he won't call you to tell you it's finished for like another week...It's amazing he makes money.

haha, thanks for the offer, i will see what my patient says, but he will do it in trade, which means super cheap for me lol... i think ive figured out what im going to do, and im going to put you up on my science right now, since you may get one made. kk, so like, ive got what is kinda looking like maybe 700-1000g of trim, popcorn bud, and all that. that being said, sitting around taking shit tons of time to do my runs is not gonna work... so my idea is to have this guy craft me maybe 6 or so long bho tubes, and then create a stand that will fit all of them... that way i can get the shit knocked out as fast as possible...

btw thanks organo, for me it is definitely worth it to throw as many lights as possible regardless of cooling costs. however, i wouldnt use two in a 4x4 space unless i was pushed for room, thats why i bought the 4x8 tent. if you have any questions let me know, a 600 does real nice in a 4x4 as well, though i would use a 1kw if possible. i will let you know final as well... i still have two bushes growing for the next week to try to help out the bottom buds that didnt get much light, and they are lookin a little better today even though the top 50% was just chopped off a few days ago...
 
You talk of using 1/2" tubing....I've seen people use like probably 1 1/4" or so metal tube bout a foot long....packing in two or more ounces in....I don't know why the 1/2" 6'long wouldn't work...give it a shot....I just suggest a bigger diameter....The glass my buddy would use is I think 36mm inside diameter and 7mm thick....I was thinking about 9" or so long.....and you're packing it in pretty tight....that there would probably fit almost two ozs of tight packed trim.

Edit.....just noticed you said "6 or so".....not 6'

yea i dunno, that one tutorial i listed up there hobbes showed that he yields better out of 1/2" tube because more contact between the herb and the butane... hobbes is pretty smart about stuff, so i typically weigh his words pretty heavy... he used a 30" pipe, and i believe i will use the same length. i plan on making a carrying case for the whole rig so its easy to transport safely.

yea that was where i got the idea of the stands, cept im lookin into stands that have clamps for holding the tubing. i talked to my glass guy, and he is going to refer the work to the guy that is teaching him... sometime this week i will probably meet up with him to discuss the cost and everything.

kk, quick pic update, gonna show you guys how i dry my trim, ive got some cheap laptop chill hubs to set over buckets, and every now and then i toss the leaves a bit... i also have the pics of last night when i disposed of the roots and harvested the pants... i dont think i will ever prune again, because i have such a stupid amount of material for hash and bho... however, when i get all my tables set up and switch to sog i wont really have the growth...

havent forgot about my journal, just been hella busy... right now there is not much going on, just kicked the plants into flower the other day, and in about a week i will have my flood tables... i think i am going to wait to get my upgrades to post my new journal...

right now its kind of up in the air, the guy i know referred it to his instructor as he didnt feel comfortable attempting it. i am waiting on a call back, but not sure if the guy is interested. either way, right now ive got so many research papers do, i am buried in work. ive still got all my bottom growth hanging because i havent had the time to trim it down... worse comes to worse i will buy an extractor online last minute...

yea i never really fucked with bho, but it just seems like there is a little less hassle than dealing with the ice and everything you have to with bubble hash... my patient just got in contact with me again, he's been busy as well, but im gonna see if this can get done in the next couple weeks, if not i may buy some bubble bags...

on a side note, tomorrow im gonna start buying my new gear, and my new journal should be up in a week or so. the plants i have flowering (1.5 weeks) are not scrogged, and are tall as fuck lol.
 
I think DWC + SCROG is the next thing I'm going to try. Should all the growth under the screen be removed? I saw a grow the otherday that did this and I have seen mentioned that SCROG is the only time you do it. What are your thoughts?
 
If you're not making hash cause you think its a pain....try the Gumby method.....all you need is a "work" bag and let gravity do the rest.....pretty easy but It takes about 6-8 hrs to complete.
