any RUI Mi peeps heading down to Movement Memorial day weekend? Gonna be a fun time as always. Im still not fond of the whole charging admission thing. i used to go in the beginning when it was all about the MUSIC and NOT about the money. the DJ line-up looks pretty sweet, even tho Deadmau5 is NOT gonna be there. been waiting for him to come to the Mi area for a few years now. shit i might even try and fine some Molly to have an even better time.

I try to go every year. The price of admission was nuts there last year. $40 for a day I believe. I did have a blast but I'm not sure if I'll go if they raise it higher.

I stopped going to Hart Plaza when they started charging admission to events there...

exactly

How are you going to take over a festival circuit previously known for being one of the world's few free premier electronic festivals
that showcases Detroit artists and local talent and then turn it into what it's currently become ?!?

Disappointing

A bunch of people are going down from the club.
I might if it's free, or I grab a press pass.

In order to attract world class talent you gotsta pay the talent...

That equals charging the peeps who attend...

I am completely down with the admission as long as the talent they bring is top notch...

oh dear God, that is the worst lineup I've ever seen down there.........there are a couple worth watching...Derrick May, Carl Craig, and Dave Clark. Those are the only DJ's I even recognize, and I've seen all of them many times. They used to get the biggest lineup of sick house and techno in the world.....now.........nothing.

I won't be there for that mess.

At this stage of the game I'd rather have a root canal than go hang out around mobs of sweaty peeps tweeked out on E (or whatever it's called anymore).

God I'm getting old

I'm old too but I do it differently than I did at break in parties 20 years ago....

many of the lesser known acts are still very dope (do a lil YouTubein). The Ritchie hawtin after party is gonna be where it's at!

I've seen DeadMau5 in Detroit, maybe 2008? Definitely puts on a better show live than on a track, I bullshitted with Joel in Chicago after a set too. I heard he got douchey after the rise of popularity.

I'll be at City Lights and Electric Forest, I don't think I'm making DEMF this year.

I can't support that dead mouse kid...

He is a self proclaimed button pusher and has no respect (outwardly disses) for those that came before him that weren't button pushers that paved the way for him to push buttons and rake in the dough...

im about the music, not the drama. i havent been there since the demf/Movement change aka money hungry new asshole owners/promoters took over. but wth, i can get a couple passes from a buddy and figured why not. the line up is not all that impressive, but there are a few who id like to see. and x3 on the afterparties. those are always where its at.

Demon, I get the feeling you and I have been to many events together over the years. I wouldn't be at all surprised if we recognized each other. Our paths have clearly crossed many times. My wife and I met at a party in 1999, and we stopped going to the DEMF on a regular basis at the time the money grabbers threw out the innovators. I think we went a few times to see John Acquiviva and Frankie Bones, and a few other of our favs but the fun party kid vibes disappeared with the onset of the advertisers and greedy promoters taking over.

That was one hell of an event before it went commercial, the biggest and best daytime festival in the entire world for a while. People were flying in from all over.

^^^^^^^^^^^^hey look^^^^^^^^^^^2000th post!

If it weren't for paxahau taking over the festival (which is when it became a pay to enter event) this feST would have ended long ago...

Can't put something of this scale on for free....

I recognize a few of the names on the line up. I even went to high school with one guy who is playing. I'm not going to say who. LOL. I'm just not that into techno as much now that I'm a little older. Give me some rock and roll or some reggae. I think the pills going around last year were bunk and I'm not into molly. LOL
