Dinafem Seeds White Widow (Final 2 Weeks in Darkness???)

I'm browsing the Attitude Seed Bank Website and I start reading the info on Dinafem White Widow.
The growing suggestions state:
"It is suggested to flower (12 hours light) this marijuana variety for 8 weeks, but 10 weeks will really give you the crystals you are after.
Try to turn the lights off all together, for the final 2 weeks of the flowering cycle - or at least down to 8 hours. This keeps the flowers from regrowth
and stresses the plant into giving up its last drop of goodness as crystals to protect the flower...."

TWO WEEKS OF DARKNESS...???

My set up is on timers that only feed/water during lights on....
If I did try this 2 weeks of darkness - I would surely have to still feed them?

Getting ready for that promo? me too. :weed:
I have heard about this 2 week thing before, there was a thread on here about it. I don't know if anyone ever ended up trying it. I personally would not do it(seems like an invitation to mold. And is the slight boost to THC/crystals worth the fact the buds won't put on any real weight?), but if you do I can't see that you have have to feed much- a plant can't really grow with light for photosynthesis. As far as I know all that an extended dark period does is build THC levels- I have never seen anyone go past 3 days. If you do it post it up on here, I'd like to see the result.

I'll be needing a damn good dehumidifier before I attempt that!

I may remove ONE PLANT to a separate area, at the end of each grow.
And see how far I can push the pre-harvest dark cycle - for optimum results
(in the highly subjective opinion of myself - not very scientific!)

I do a 2-3 day dark period. Helps speed up the dry/cure by a few days in my studies haha.

Supposedly it causes your plant to eat starches, which is what it does at night, for a longer period of time than the usual 12 hours of dark. This i kind of believe because those starches are what make your plant taste grassy/chemically when youre too eager to smoke it uncured/half wet.

It does not get rid of all of them but who knows if you did a 2 week dark period. hahaha i will not be the first inline to try it.

There are other claims about how thc is broken down by uv/ir light form the sun/light during the day and at night it "recharges" its tanks. the few days in the dark is supposed to trick it into recharging for longer than normal. This i dont so much believe or at least dont believe that it can really change the amount of active ingredients in such a short amount of time to any significant level.
