Naw they couldn't do that much damage. Wish it was them, that'd be an easy fix.
Thanks man, we're working on harvesting that branch now so I'll have to split it open soon.. It is all on the same stalk. Need to figure out what's causing it because it's effecting some of my plants, & I noticed the ones I started the earliest are the ones it's effecting.

The "mulch" is actually pine needles from around the property.. May not of been the best to use that? We used wiggle worm from build a soil. I couldn't find any soft spots on it or earwig looking creatures, but we did see some nasty looking bugs in the soil of some other plants & im not sure what they are - I'll post pics. We found 1-2 very small holes, but no soft spots :/
I really want to figure out what's killed a couple branches/plants -- my main concern is in reusing the soil next year if it's a root disease.
