I'm planning on using 3-4 small HID lights (in an experiment) so I want to go as cheap as possible. I've been checking out everything I
can find on DIY ballasts, there are plenty of threads on "How to"", there are also plenty of places that sell the "kits". But the one thing that nobody talks about is the "Delayed Re-strike Function". Do those cheap kits include this? Or is that some kind of proprietary circuit that the big name companies build into their equiptment?
It seems to me that without that delayed re-strike function one could "blow" a lot of bulbs and make that cheap kit a very expensive project! So what's up? Does anyone have any info for me? I'm sure someone knows what I'm talking about. Is there a way to get that "Delayed Re-strike Function" on the cheap side, or do I have to buy a bunch of ready made ballasts?
